Shift Knobs
Hey guys, Im getting a new shift **** for my birthday and I don't understand the reverse lock out thing... I'm looking at http://www.shopmomo.com/raceairleather.html It looks awesome but it said you have to get a specific one... I was just wondering if yall could help me on this issue. Is it hard to install?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys, Dan

I'm sorry. I couldn't resist.
i have this one and i LOVE it. http://www.shopmomo.com/race.html
if you install it the right way and make sure the set screws are tight (inject some silicone into the holes before threading the set screws so it will not back out after a couple of months) it will last -- mines been on for about a year and a half with no problems --

I think they are talking about cars that have a separate lever under the **** that you have to pull up with your fingers before shifting into reverse. If the **** had a long collar below it, it could interfere with the operation of the lockout lever. This doesn't apply to our cars where you pull up on the whole **** to shift into reverse.

Guys, I just went out to my car and pulled up the boot... There is alike a cone shaped dealy directly connecting the boot and **** ya know? Do you just unscrew that counter clockwise?

- pop shift base off and remove window switches
- unscrew collar and remove old shift ****
- lay new collar around shifter
- set base back down (but not popped back into console)
- insert correct rubber adapter (smallest one that will fit)
- use set screws to lock down new shift **** on shaft (don't forget silicone)
- pull boot up around new shift **** and screw collar on (a little tough... you'll see what i mean)
- reattach window switches and set base into console

The MOMO ***** fit, but you'll have to do some creative installation to keep them locked tight on the shifter arm. The key is to use the tightest sleeve that comes with the install kit.

Piece of cake - just follow the excellent directions as previously posted. Only thing I do different is I don't pop the whole switch plate up, just the boot and its retaining ring but either way it works out the same. Took me less than five minutes to do.
