Are you guys happy with these? I installed them today and tonight it was raining and i did not see in front of me, they are well aligned, i checked in a garage and they are well in place. I have seen different opinions in previous threads, but i think i liked the originals better, and i paid $25 canadian each bulb! Is it me? or...

 

I like mine. have SilverStars in the driving lights too. makes things stand out a little better and whiter than the originals.

 

I too like my SilverStars. They're not necessarily brighter than the stock lamps but I like their color temperature better.

 

Put in SilverStars, too... I believe they are NO better than the stock bulbs... Would save my money for something else...

 

you really can't get any better light output than a stock bulb if you stick with halogen... if you want great lighting then get a 5,000k HID conversion kit for around $280... 5,000K range means it has no filter to add color to the light pattern so it is the brightest possible light output... plus, since our headlights are projector based, you will get the color hue at the projector cutoff naturally so there is no need to go with a higher kelvin range if you do desire a nicer look...

the silverstars may be a bit dimmer if anything in reality... the color is achieved through a color filter on the bulb which filters out unwanted colors producing a whiter light, a side effect is dimmer light output... looking at the projector it may look brighter than before as a optical illusion but the beam pattern on the floor may indeed be dimmer.

a HID conversion is a excellent all around solution that will pay off over the years. even the cheapest korean kits have bulbs that will last around 3 years. phillips HID bulbs can last up to 5 years. the projector housing on our cars makes it so you will not be blinding people with the extra light output as it is being put to the floor and not glaring out into space like in traditional parabolic reflector lenses.

just remembers... the higher the kelvin ranger (10,000k for example) the dimmer the light output... all bulbs "burn" at nearly the same kelvin range, all these manufacturers are doing is adding lens filters to give a optical illusion of a different heat range... that's because with halogen to attain a real high kevlin range they would have to draw over 120 watts causing the harness to melt and your car to catch on fire. same with HID... all the kits except for the 1g kits operate at the same 35 watts, so its all optical filters with anything above or below the 4,700 - 5,000k range...

 

Thanks guys, appreciate your comments. I was under the impression that the lights were a lot better than the originals, since they are installed i think i will just leave them on the car until i upgrade to a HID kit...eventually.

I've installed a Phillips 6000K Xenon HID kit and highly recommend it. They provide excellent vision in all conditions and look good too. IMO they should be standard equipment to the Crossfire. One of the BEST upgrades you can put into this car (after the Eibach Pro Kit). Once you do it, you'll know what I mean... and you'll be very glad you did!

 

I had silverstars and no big difference...Then I went with HID...Only problem is when I'm listening to FM station and turn on the lights I lose all signal and hear static...Confused? Yes I am... As soon as i turn off the headlights the radio comes in fine...

 

Yeah it sounds like there's interference. What brand did you get?

Also I think the Xenesis bulbs or Hoen Xenon match bulbs are better than SilverStars.

 

Brand? Who knows... they were $100 bucks on ebay...The light output is outstanding, just way to much EFI...guess i'll have to buy the expensive ones...
