Silverstars how long??
Had a headlight out on my limited coupe so 4 months ago I had both sides replaced with silverstars now i have a light out again? Do these lights not last or is this something else? any advice?
The Ultras in my Tahoe have lasted 2 years.
The low beams in the Crossfire lasted 3 months and 4 months.
I can't explain it, but I called Sylvania and was told they will replace them if I could cough up a receipt.
I couldn't.
Go with HID's.
Just a suggestion.

I also found the silverstars don't last long and called the manufacture to complain. They informed me they only last about 1/2 as long as a normal light and if I want longer life to purchase the ultras.

Get yourself a set of HID's, 4300k or 5000k temperature for the best light output.
funny i thought the silverstars were hd how long do typical hd lights last i had my car 2 years before the original headlight went so im looking for similar dont want to be changing headlight every 4 months lol
I have never been able to get any "expensive" Halogen bulbs to last more than a few months. I've bad bad luck with PIAA, Silverstar, Nokya. For the money I spent on them, I could have bought a proper set of HIDs, so that is exactly what I did, and I've never had a problem with any of those in my last 3 cars. Supposedly, an average HID bulb should last 5-7 years. So they say. I've never had one go out. My friend has a 2001 Acura CL-S that he bought new and it still has the original HIDs after 8 years and 127,000 miles.

That's strange to me I am on my second year and never lost any of my 4?
Now I suppose they will be out by morning!

I got 1 day out of one of my SILVERSTAR ULTRA's. I hated them anyway. Light was way too white. I got no visibility when the roads were wet.
$50 down the drain in my opinion. I reinstalled my OEM lights and now everything works fine.

Great. I just put these in. Don't know if they were the ultras or not though... all I know is they cost $25 a bulb and I replaced all four, breaking one of the original bulbs in the process. No turning back now.
So if I'm still under warranty, will installing HID void anything? If so, if I have them installed by a dealer, will it make a difference?

i've done a lot of different research on this topic. personally i like the white light. i'm getting a HID kit for Christmas but that only covers my low beams. i'm not going HID for highs and fogs because a) i think they are only legal here for lows and b) the highs and fogs switch on and off and HIDs take a little time to get fully on. so, knowing i'm going with HIDs on my lows at 4300K temp, i was looking into replacements for my highs and fogs so they will be closer the the white of my new HID. i was at wally-world looking and on the back of the packaging i noticed a scale on bulb life. look at the extended life bulbs because it shows a better comparison. also, i found this article posted on another thread CLICKY
long and short - i still don't know what to do. i like the white but i don't like spending money on bulbs and replacing them.
