My cousin bought a crappy electric supercharger the other day, and I must say it looks like a piece of crap. There is no way these things can work, right?

 

I have proven on a dyno that you will lose power with one of these installed. Don't waste you money.

 

It draws more energy from the engine than it moves air. There is no way a small electric fan can create positive displacement.

no, its actually only a $1,200 dollar system that provide burst of 80-100 hp. you should read about it, i find that the best technique before writing responses to things. its actually a pretty interesting invention.

 

I bought a hair dryer and took it apart, placed it end of the headers and took the power cable and ran it up thought the center console and plugged it into my cigarette lighter. It added like 3,000 WHP so Now I've got 3,215 HP its incredibly quick and its got several settings like Hot, Cool, Medium, and High. Go to Sally's today and get one of the Professional Hair Dryers.

I almost forgot, before I offend anyone FP taught me what to do to make it all OK.

Edit - Actually, never mind. I stand by my post. 15 seconds of a maximum of 455 CFM before you need to recharge the battery array is not exactly what I would call useful. Get a supercharger or turbocharger instead. The Germans don't use electrics for a reason.

its actually conceived as an alternative to nitrous, hence the "usefulness" of the short bursts. like i said, read about it. its not what you are thinking, its not one of those that just goes into the intake piping, its much more complex. i'm not saying i want one, i'm just saying that there are electric superchargers that do work. you're telling me people wouldn't want a safe alternative to nos? didn't you have to have an srt-4? that car is one of the most common cars for nitrous.

Yea, I used to have an SRT-4 and I know people love to nitrous the crap out of them. Personally, I hate nitrous. I don't like the idea of tuning for something that is only usable in a short burst. I'd rather have more engine displacement or more boost from a turbocharger or supercharger system. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Maximussquid, anything can be safe if you build and tune for it properly. You need the proper fuel and timing for increased pressure caused by a forced induction system.

 

i'm agree with you, i'm not a huge fan of short bursts of power either, i was going to go nitrous but now after a nasa event i'm definitely not. and to the prior poster, just google thomas knight, there is a bunch of info up.
