Sprint Booster installation problem thread
Hi everyone. I just ordered my SB from the E-bay site. Hopefully it won't take too long to get. After reading all the posts, I wonder if a thread for people to put their install problems and workarounds might be helpful. I've read an eyeful about the (#@&!) washer. Magnet, crazy glue are both good ideas. Are there any other hints out there?

I just installed mine on Thursday. I used the magnet and it worked fine. I had a difficult time initially getting the plug off the pedal assembly until I realized you need to squeeze the tabs at the top of the connector where the wires go in. It was a breeze after that and I am impressed with the results with it installed.

I Used A Hot Glue Gun To Apply A Small Drop Of Glue To A Socket. It Pulled Out Without A Problem And Peels Off Of The Socket Easily. I Tried A Magnet To No Avail.
Once you take the nut off wiggle the pedal assembly and the washer will loosen and then the magnet will lift the washer out. I have done it several times.

The plug can be accessed then without removing anything else. Just pop it off and install the booster.

I haven't bought one yet . . . Thanks.
I posted something back in April about this:
Again... there is an easier method of installation that was first introduced by "upstate":
All you need is a Phillips screw driver! I've done this myself, and it works!
First remove the screw on the drivers side lower console where the vent is, 1/4 turn; this is a locking screw.
Remove the second Phillips holding the lower drivers side console panel. You'll have to do a little removal manipulation of the panel, but it bends quite easily; its plastic! You may have to depress the gas pedal for clearance and temporary removal.
Note: Always take note of how things fit a feel prior to panel removal, its just a good code to follow.
Get your flashlight, and look back above the Gas Pedal and there is the plug. Squeeze sides to release the locking mechanism, and unplug.
Install SB, make sure connection are secure, re-install lower side console, and finally re-install the vent!
You're Done!

Thanks for the tip but you forgot to say you need pretty %#&@* small fingers to get to the back latch of the plug !!! Had to get my girlfriend's daughter to do it, and she had trouble !!!
BUT much better than pulling the accel pedal out.

I just installed the SB today. What a difference!!! Not so much at high RPM, but in city traffic, its almost like a new car. I used the install method of removing the vent and panel. It was an impossibly tight squeeze, so i also removed the throttle pedal nut and was able to wiggle enough room without removing the washer. I am a mechanical dunce and it still only took me about 30 minutes.
Thanks to everyone for their help!!!

I could not remove the console side panel. Someone must have superglued that #*@! screw in place - and not being metal, it stripped right out. Re the washer, magnets did not work (tried using two). It took dental probes - the kind with bent tips - and a lot of time to work them under the washer and lever it out. BTW, I had a very experienced mechanic friend with me working on this so it was not just my fumble fingers...
One suggestion - once the washer is out, use a power drill to carefully resize the hole. Just a slight reaming will do it - enough so that the washer can perform its design function but enough so that it will not bind against the center pin the next time you might want to remove it.
