One suggestion - once the washer is out, use a power drill to carefully resize the hole. Just a slight reaming will do it - enough so that the washer can perform its design function but enough so that it will not bind against the center pin the next time you might want to remove it.

Interesting... The hardest thing for me was fitting my upper body into that small foot area to plug in the SB! And I really did not have a hard time plugging the SB in, as some have mentioned as being another problem.

Isn't something; a thing so small can cause so many problems, yet once installed and functional, generates a smile on most people faces!
