Default Speed Innovations Chip Tuning

I've been meaning to post this for some time. After several delays on my part I finally got my ECU off to Speed Innovations for the chip tuning and I couldn't be happier with it. Your seat of the pants can ceratinly feel their Dyno tested claims of 22+ horsepower. Gear changes are noticeably at a higher RPM. One unexpected surprise, inspite of all the fun I'm having, was a slight increase in MPG.

I think their current price is $499. I took advantage of a special they had back in October of $475. Though the Crossfire is not listed on their website, it uses the same tuning as the SLK320. Here's contact info: http://www.speedinnovation.com/contact.php

It was simple to remove the module. I followed the procedure that's been posted. https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...1&highlight=si

They were quick on the turnaround time getting it back in the mail on the following day. They will match whatever shipping method you use on the return mailing back to the cutomer and cover that portion of the postage in the item cost. Depending on how close you are to CA this can be done in as little as 2-3 days. In my case it was actually closer to 10 days before I was able to get it back in the car due to travel plans and I was concerned leaving the car disconnected from the battery for that long, but it presented no problems doing so.

I just looked on the site and see they have it listed for the CLK320 which is what I used.

I just went through my correspondence with them and see it is the chip tuning for the SLK320.

I believe the guy who does the tuning software at SI on the crossfire and slk320, used to work for PowerChip, and manged to liberate a copy of the software for his own use.

I think SpeedInnovations is out of business, they just kept the website up and do work out of STATUS, a high end car shop down in Hermosa Beach.

No, it's not BOGUS... it's the POWERCHIP programming software that was allegedly mis-appropriated (per a very good source in the Los Angeles MB tuning community) and re-sold under a different company when a certain employee left PowerChip with a pocket full of goodies...

If they are reading this, they will recognize the name STUART and know that some of us are a bit more knowledgeable than they give credit and the MB tuning community is very small and most people can't keep secrets...

It's all the same software... I don't think you quite understand... Most of these people have the same original maps that were developed by MB to alter the tuning on their engines...

I sat and looked at the files on a laptop at a PowerChip dealer in Los Angeles... they are all broken down to engine subcategories and they just flash your ECU with preset files that have various timing maps, etc... And all were developed by the factory to rectify tuning issues with the engine...

If you're going to do a mail order tuning map, do it with a reputable company that has a physical address and a verifiable reputation... Because the only way you can really optimize your tune is by having the car on a dyno with a technician manipulating the maps as they analyze your HP / TQ and AFR curves...

I agree, sir. In-house is the only way I'll really go about any software tuning...

where am i supposed to do in house tuning though and what about the dyno problems with the traction control only thing i have heard of is awd dyno and somehow power the front wheels up to 15 mph. and it will give full power dyno pulls but how would you power just the front wheels on a dyno, and i don't even know for sure if it would work, i wouldn't want to do dyno tuning with power loss on the dyno cause of no dyno mode. supposedly tvt design will be able to have a tune for my car based on mods but that makes me wait and wait for there products to be done.

It helps if we knew where you were. If you're somewhat local to the Detroit area of michigan then I'd recommend motorwerks....they do a lot of Mercedes work, and have the right software and a dyno!

BTW.......anyone with the mercedes star software can get rid of the "nannies" that limit RPM.

The dyno problem is for 6 speeds only right? Auto don't have that issue?

Thanks again HDDP

I believe you can trust HDDP as far as mod's to XF's, he is probably the best on the forum but I sent my ECU to SI and am very happy with the results and they were very helpful and responsive when I used them, as far as them no longer in business I can't say.

Yeah I thought they were great to deal with and likewise I'm quite happy with the results.

BTW, how do you like the Sprint Booster in addition to the SI chip? Did you get it first or after the SI tuning?
