you know I think the srt6 might have a stroker crank, now that I think about it. How else would startech easily create the 3.8L upgrade for the NA m112 motor, mecedes bored and stroked the m113 engine to offer 4.3, 5.0 and 5.5 v8's while the m112 is 3.2L stock, they also have a 3.5L version of the m112 in the ML320 and a 3.7L and with piston sleeve kit that brings it up to 3.8L

Interesting point, Max! The difference between the two engines could be as simple as that...

It's possible. It's even more possible that Mercedes makes different diameter crankshafts for the same lower end for all of its M112/M113-based engines.

However, it is more likely that the SRT6 has a destroked (smaller diameter) crankshaft. This would be done to create the 9.0:1 static compression ratio. Then the SRT6 would have slightly longer rods to compensate.

The thing that confuses me about this is that I haven't seen one specs page that lists the SRT6 and Base Crossfire engines as having different bore/stroke ratios - only static compression ratio! Something is just not right about this info...same bore, same stroke, and same displacement = same diameter piston, same length rod, same diameter crankshaft. No stroke, no destroke.

yeah, there a bit of unanswered questions regarding the internals, the only one who has both engines is HDDP and I doubt he's interested in doing the measurements.

I believe the lower compression comes from the shape of the piston not the stroke. The higher the compression the more convex (sp?) the pistons top is. The lower the more concave the top is.
/\ top=high compression
\/ top=lower compression

Your more persistent than I am Maxwell. Still, I will believe it when I see it, four years and counting. If someone figures out how to do this in the next month, I am buying another crossfire. I really want to pull the trigger on an srt-6, but I just can't bring myself to go automatic.

I work alot with Paxton/Vortech at my work. and they said if we get enough people who are tinerested in a kit we can actually have one built for our cars. and if they sell enough of them, then they will actually have them carb approved.

So how many of you guys are interested.

Im no. 1

How about you try being number 1 by doing a full custom install yourself?

i have thought about it, but i dont have the cash to front a proect like that. i wish i could i have had dreams of having a paxton on my car. i think i would be the happiest man on earth.

But why should i have to do it, if i could have a company like paxton take care of it with a warranty, and a properly tested product, and no worry of smog?

Seems like a win/win to me.

Thanks for sharing...

As for being the first, get in the long line of people who "don't have the money, but would love to see a turbo/supercharged Crossfire, can easily 'hook us up' with a kit, and can't figure out why no-one is converting their cars to forced induction."

I mean, I think I've heard this one before...

no.2 here,

It might be easier than we think, the hardest part is making the brackets and getting the belt aglignment, I have the blue print on machining the crankshaft pully, that could be done on CNC lathe withing 10 minutes.

Well, i work alot with Paxton and Actually have had quite a few oportunites to meet with some of their engineering and marketing managers and for "low-amount" cars their has to be a demand. and their demand is not very high.

People sometimes dont want to take these necessary steps. They just want it done. I want it done by the right people. the people that can supply these kits to the public.

I dont want to have to go to a custom shop and get raped on the labor, when i could have install directions and bolt it on myself, and have it tuned afterwards. which i did to my z28 and have done to many customers Paxton Charged Mustangs.

Dont shoot me down, if you dont know me. i just have to be able to go back to paxton with serious buyers. people who really want a Supercharged 6spd man. car and not have to spend upwards to $10,000.00 for a kit, why not paxton's average cost of $5500.00 retail.

I would find a way to pony up that kind of cash for 50% power gain at 6-8 lbs of boost.

I just dont see the downside of this idea at all.

I think I'm just going to piece my own kit together, if Vortec beats me to it that's cool. Only in it for the fun.

I've got a quick ? about the srt6 computer, is the engine control and trans control in one package or are they separate? I know the prelude I had used two different computers that worked together. Also I don't see how the manual trans won't mount to the srt6 motor? Are they not the same block with different internals?

Ok back on topic.

i feel the same the auto. kills me, i just am not ready to get an automatic. i hope someone gets something like this together, sucks being the first to try it though i understand, i passed on an opportunity for a place called turbo zone up here in upstate new york on doing a pieced together turbo kit just because i was worried about the tuning and electronics. He seemed confident in being able to do it but i just figured ill wait on someone else.

It would be nice if vortech would beat someone to it or anyone out there, i haved talked to a few places like jackson racing a vortech couple others also and didn't seem like there were plans for this but hopefully someone gets through to them and gets this done.

Geez people. With all this moaning, don't make me be the first to turbo a crossfire...lol.

I still have my mid-engine turbo F22a build going on in my shop from last august. I really didn't want to start another project until that was a rolling chassis.
