Hi,

Just got back from the dealer. Our 2004 Xfire AC went out in the first year. Took it to dealer who said there was a loose fitting. Worked for two summers, and this year stopped again. Today the dealer said the compressor has a bad seal and they want $1,500 to put in a new one. I wish they'd have determined this when it was still under warranty.

I'm going for a second opinion, then shop for a better price. I can buy the compressor online for $385, but I'm sure the labor is a killer - probably have to take the whole engine apart. I'm hoping to find some crusty little ol' German guy with Mercedes experience here in Seattle who will give me a little break, maybe $200 - $300 less than the dealer.
