Default Odometer rolled back.

After disconnecting my battery my odometer rolled back 14,000 mi, I spoke to Anthony from TVT, great help.
He made a few calls for me and found out that it's an issue for some early models so it will be at the dealers next Monday, wish me luck.
Has anyone had this problem?

Wow Tony!

I guess I lucked out still 37,000 miles plus...
Shouldn't Chrysler transfer all the performance data from the original ECU to the new one?

Mercedes was not exactly known for number one in reliability just a few years back. You have to remember that a lot of the early Crossfires and SRTs were built with old left over parts, all of them may have some left over parts in them. So you kind of have to expect something to go wrong. Good thing about the odometer is that it is completely seperate from the other systems in the car, so he won't lose the tune.

It is basically a self contained unit. I think it was going to happen sonner or later and the battery disconnect just pushed it forward. If it were to lose all of the memory it would've reset to 0 and it didn't.

If anyone starts ripping into these early cars you will see tons of mismatched parts all over the place. Wrong brackets, different motor mounts, odd bolts, missing pieces, exhaust hangers off of an 89 E series, etc... It's amazing the differences in each car. From all the Crossfires I have worked on, no two were the exact same. It makes it that much more interesting to work on.

I brought my car to the dealer today. They grabbed some numbers and ordered me a new radio. Should be in, in a few weeks. Half way home the radio made a noise and out popped the disk. I will have it changed anyway

Be careful taking the neg lead on and off the batt.
In the SLK these are based on the Ins clusters have been known to fail due to voltage spikes.
Chaps over on http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r170-slk-class/ fit Matson spike protectors from batt pos to earth.
