Cold Air Intakes?
Pulled the grill off of my Limited, and noticed the small air ports that supply the intake with air. They look kind of restrictive to me. Wondering if it would be worth the time and money to bypass this and go with a different cold air system. What I wonder about is dragging in all that hot engine air if I put on the Spectra or simular system in place. HOLY CRAP. Does this car come with fairy dust to sprinkle on the engine cover to remove it. I would like to check out my air filters.

Absolutely !!
A CAI is a must have for these cars.
I'd look into the second NeedsWings CAI group buy.
I got mine in the first GB, and it was worth every penny.
Also, even a ham fisted guy with few tools like me can install it in 2 hrs.
A decent mech w/better tools would take about 30 mins.
BTW - the engine cover is held on with a just few spring clips.

I would wholeheartedly agree with the above comments! You can't go wrong with a CAI; it increases your power AND your mileage. Not too many mods have an actual monetary return-on-investment!
The Needswings intake is truly a snap to install. If you can read English, follow instructions with pictures & work with a screwdriver & metric sockets you're good to go!
On top of that, Rob at Needwings is a wonderful person to deal with & will absolutely back-up his products. I highly recommend him & his firm.
IMO, get in on the 2nd group buy before it ends!

I can support all the positive claims here about the Needswings intake.
Get one on this second group buy.
I have one and I love it !!

This single intake setup functions better then the standard two, or is it that theres more space on that side of the radiator to accomadate the pipe, so that it can be mounted in front of the radiator eliminating hot engine air. Also, with this setup can you still utilize the engine cover.

I believe there is equal space on either side of the radiator once the stock intake port is removed.
It also connects directly to the engine and the plastic throttle OEM throttle body is removed.
This is also a restrictive area on the stock intake.
The na engine cover as far as I know has not been able to be modified to be used along with this intake.
The install is easy and if you ever want to switch it back to stock it is even easier.

I will grant that the dual intakes look cooler, they balance out nicely. Beyond that, the Needswings intake is one jumbo pipe & fits perfectly along the passenger side.
I can't speak for the N/A Crossfire, I don't have a CAI on the Coupe, but I still use the cover on the SRT, it fits though it is only held on with the one remaining clip vs. the normal 3. Through some hard driving it never has budged, so it stays on.

You want a single intake to avoid turbulence, especially on a MAF car with a single TB.
We sell a similar intake to NW and it is also a sinle design.
Both our intake and NW are good performance products, but I've seen the NW pipe up close and it is a lot more "showy." In a good way.

That MAF is a tricky *******. The slightest of changes to it's location, or load and it starts reading all over the map! I was very surprised at how sensitive they really are.
Here is a good thread with some numbers on the 3 popular CAI options; Needswings, BDJ, SL55. The thread is a pretty good discussion. Bottom line is they all work and it is just up to you to choose which you prefer. See post #39.

No. the sl55 is an intake for a FI (forced induction) engine. You cannot keep your N/A airbox as is and install the Needswings Intake. You will have to completely remove it. You must decide, show or go...
