Default Dimming Mirror Question

Has anyone installed a dimming mirror from a 2004 in a 2005 and later car?
Is the plug to connect the mirror in the 05's? If not what do you need to connect it?
Thanks

I installed a Gentex auto dimming rearview mirror with compass in my 2006. The instructions with the mirror indicated what each wire did. Obviously your mirror did not come with such instructions. The 2004 mirror was designed to attach to a plug in the overheat light region. (This can be accessed by GENTLY prying or using a trim stick.) I doubt that the plug is still there, but it might be, in which case just plug it in after threading the wire up behind the overhead trim by the windshield. If there is no plug, you can probably splice the wires. They are likely color coded to match the wires to the overhead light.

Please keep us updated on this - I'd be interested to know if I can replace my stock mirror with an auto dimming one.

Thanks, but I'm not gonna buy it until I know it's an easy fit job.

Thanks, I'll take a look under the dome light for the mirror plug. I'll keep you guys posted if I win the one on Ebay.

I'm betting that it's there. Go to this link for the mirror's wiring diagram. It's on page 8W-62-3.

It appears that my mirror has a sensor on it for the dimming mirror.
So do I have a dimming mirror?

I have to do this!

Do you look dimmer when you look into it?

I was curious (dissapointed) how a $52,000 car could come with a non dimming rear view mirror. Its one of the things I like most of my 2001 Dakota.

Nice

Cool Re: Dimming Mirror Question

Hmmm, I guess my '04 with dimming mirror is a step above the rest! My old '97 Tahoe even has a dimming mirror with compass.

Is the plug to connect the mirror in the 05's? If not what do you need to connect it?
Thanks
I just took a quick look to see if my car came equipped with the mirror plug and it appears not to have, so no plug in '05's at least not mine!
