Default Car not shifting past 5,500 rpms!

Of course this had to happen on the day of the dyno. Everytime I'd open her up in 2nd, 3rd or 4th, it would hit 5,500 rpms and just sit there without shifting to the next gear with the peddle to the floor. Not sure what the heck is going on. Tried doing a search about this and couldn't find anything. Has anyone seen this before? Car only has 7,300 miles on her. Needless to say, I only put down 292 whp at 5,500 rpms.

I have read on here somewhere that if the front wheels are not moving the ECU will limit out at 5,500 rpm. Although my Aero does NOT do this. I havent dyno'd the SSB so I dont know if it does or not. Just a possibility...

It does it all the time on and off the dyno. Tomorrow I'll check every part of the intake since it was the only thing I played with before driving today. Could be a hose or something.

Just a thought.

My car wouldn't rev beyond 4800 rpms on the dyno............even when I pulled fuse 17 and 18. I've never had that problem on the street though.

What about the winter/sport switch? Never been on the dyno, but always shift at 6100 at the track. I've read about the dyno operator has to know how to put the car in dyno mode. Not sure how it's done.

This is exactly what has been discussed at length before.

You need to spin the front wheels, if they are stationary the PCM will lock down the rev's well before redline.

The other method is to get your hands on the Mercedes Star computer and software and put the car into "dyno mode"

Pulling fuses, resetting things, or anything short of turning the front tires or using the software will do nothing but set codes.

Yes, I disconnected the battery for 1 hour and also manually did the throttle body reset. I'll be checking it out as soon as I get out of work this afternoon.

Found the culprit! The 12" silicone hose would constrict when the boost got higher. When it was hot you could easily squeeze the hose. So I cut it in half and replaced it with a hard pipe. Wow what a difference! Now it's back to pulling like gangbusters again! I could have avoided all the headaches and gone out and spent hundreds more for the Needswing, but that would take away my DIY fun factor! I'm learning a lot about the car, that's for sure, and enjoy playing with it along the way! I guess I'll have to go back and dyno it again to get accurate readings.

P.S. Let this be an educational lesson, just in case you encounter the same type of problem I did with car holding at high boost.

glad you found the problem. Yea Rob test everything before he puts something out there. He usually put a few thousand miles on a product before we here about it. The mani's have something like 7000 miles on them to get to where they are now. Don't you wish everyone did that.

I bet you still won't reach redline on a dyno.

Why do you think I believe you'll still not reach redline!
