Default Accessory Plug

The Crossfire comes without any "hot" outlet for cell phone and Ipod charging. I easily put one in. Know this was shown before. Think I just took some good pictures and it may be helpful. Start by removing the battery. Don't forget to turn off the alarm. Darn thing goes crazy when you remove the battery terminals. Must be some kind of back-up battery or capacitor powering the darn thing.

Below that is a plug with single grey wire going through the firewall. It's the black plug with screwdriver sticking through it in one of the pictures.

To get there from the front just pull down the floor mat, floor, white foam and maybe the overhead plate under the glove box. There it is in the top, right corner.

I just made a fused line from the battery junction box back under the battery box, through the grommet, around the front of the foot area and into the lip under the consul. Stuck a polarized plug at the end. Simple to make an accessory outlet to plug in.

One picture shows all that's showing. You can even shove it out of sight. I just put the accessory plug in that little net near the passengers' legs.

Modify it any way you want with any accessory you want. The wire is hot and will not change resistance for any existing circuit.

Nothing wrong with a little extra power!

BTW there is a back up battery just for the alarm!

Looks like an idea to keep in mind. Thanks for the pics.

How do you shut off the alarm before disconnecting the battery? Unlock w/ remote control?

Yes it would be nice to have an extra outlet, and one that is hot all the time not just when the key is on.
on a side note I still can't figure out why the horn is only powered with the ignition on

That alarm back-up really got me. Funny how, with no alarm turned on, the alarm goes off when you disconnect a battery terminal. The battery box bolt is where I took the ground. Good spot and close.

Strange the horn only works with the ignition and the radio works under all conditions.

Failure today getting a third key cut. Fancy locksmith screwed up. Now he wants car and his cut key for another try. Said he never screws up.

Yeah, right.

Programming issues will come next.

Sorry I missed that question. How did I turn off the alarm...

Just turned off the switch for "towing" that's on the dash. Or maybe I turned it on. Not sure but after reading the shop manual and the owners manual, that's all I could figure out.

It worked.

Now I see a red light flashing on that switch. Guess it's still off, or on or ??? Will figure that out later today.

Power to the horn relay is present all of the time. However there is no power to the coil on the relay so the relay can't operate until the the ignition is on. One side of the relay coil is connected to ground when you press the horn button on the steering wheel. The other side doesn't see 12v till the ignition is on. Once current is flowing the relay connects the always hot 12v contact to the horns. Beep - beep!
One member had someone back into him and all he could do was watch because his horn wouldn't work cuz the key was not on!

There is a fix for this now. Check it out if you want 24/7 horn access!
