Default Aftermarket Replacement for OEM Steering Wheel

I don't like the four-pronged, overly large stock steering wheel. Does anyone have a suggestion for an aftermarket or Mercedes sport steering wheel that would have an airbag and is relatively easy to use in place of the stock one?

that's too expensive. You need to find/make a hub adaptor for your new steering wheel, that's where I hit a wall, I sure picking a steering wheel will be easy.

If you go to their start page you can view all the different types.. various styles and prices. Great site. It seems a lot of BMW and Benz enthusiasts are using them too.

Take a look at post #10 in this thread. He shows a nice steering wheel and tells you which adapter it takes. His all leather interior is pretty darn georgeous too.

Just copy and paste that info like this:

The steering wheel is a raid daytona, 340 mm with airbag. The airbag ist reworked with leather and allowed by german "TÜV"

See http://www.raid-rdi.com/
raid Airbaglenkrad, 340mm, Daytona
Leder schwarz glatt/perforiert, Alu-Hupentasten
Art.-Nr. 70139

The matching steering wheel adapter is: Mercedes Benz SLK R170

I like these - you can get them in chrome, gold or with authentic looking rust...

I have seen one of those. Many years ago my wife hit a parked car with our F100 and totaled it. It had that steering wheel in it. Forutnately I didnt have to pay too much for the totaled car.

Right, has anyone actually done this and posted results or pictures of it installed?

According to Gerhard(daun) in Germany, that is the steering wheel that he used. See the link above. He had his whole interior, including the steering wheel, re-done in leather. See his gallery.
