Personally, I like the base pop-up spoiler.

Being an old fart, I keep forgetting it's there, and The Whirr of the spoiler going up is a pleasant surprise, and I know that the good times are starting to begin. 100KPH is the door to where the fun begins.

It's like the car is smiling when the spoiler pops up.

I also like the way it stores away when you slow down. Many drivers behind me have gone out of their way to comment on how cool it is to watch the spoiler retract into the trunk area. Then the inevitable "what is it" questions begin. As I have de-Chryslered the emblems, it's somewhat a mystery. Although it says CROSSFIRE accross the rear.. an indication of the efficiency of the Crossfire advertising program.

And, yes I have the Karmann decal under the spoiler too. It just looks right there.

My 2c worth... probably 3c worth.....

BTW, I'm in Cabo for a few weeks recovering from Winter, and believe it or not.... the dollar, or my 3 cents is worth something here. The exchange rate went from 10 pesos to the dollar to 14 to the dollar. I'm surprised the dollar is worth anything anywhere...

Buy those German parts now guys, they aren't going to to get cheaper as the USD keeps diluting. I'm so old, I remember when a Billion Dollars was a LOT of money. Now it's just seed money.

Keep your spoilers up, and you SRT6 guys, Just keep smiling. You have a great reason to.

Bruce

I completely disagree with that. The fixed wing of the SRT visually anchors the rear of the roadster.

I never liked the lool SRT6 spoiler....till I had one.
After having one and getting used to the look it looks kinda bare without one. Now I would have to have it.

LoL, LMAO!!!!!!!! That is the funniest thing I have read in a long time!!!!

Did that REALLY happen to you?

The only thing I have that can compete with that is this;

I left my cell phone on the roof of my car and drove off. Then, not paying
attention to traffic that stopped at the next light, LOOKING for my cell phone, in a panic stop.
My cell phone launched off the roof and pelted the car in front of me!
No damage was done to the car in front of me or my car. And my phone still works!!!!

Go figure?

I have a SRT and while I have no major dislike of SRT style I would prefer the pop-up.

As we know SRT is not just about higher HP but also includes larger brakes, stiffer suspension, ect.

Question: Is there a functional aspect to the fixed SRT spoiler? I think I read there was in a review and it's just like the larger brakes to further enhane and balance out the performance. If it's just about the looks I'll take the pop-up.

It's been said that the SRT-6 accelerates faster than the folding spoiler can deploy to a safe level. In other words, the car would already be doing 80+ before the spolier would even be completing the cycle.

Probably not a HUGE time-gap, but enough that the engineers erred on the side of caution and created a fixed one.

Plus, HDDP did tests and confirmed that while the retractable spoiler created ~100# of downforce @ a given speed, the SRT spoiler generated 400# @ same speed. Can't remember what the speed was, otherwise I'd post it but I don't want to mis-quote info.

So yes, there is a function governing the form.

I have never been a fan of spoilers per se as they are generally a cosmetic item rather than a necessity on "over the counter" cars. That being said I fancy sometimes little lip style spoilers when they really clean up the lines on the car. So what is my preference for our rides, no question its the NA spoiler as I almost considered buying an SRT but just could not get around the wheels and the spoiler. That thing is just too large. Now before I get beat up by the srts on here. I do like it on others cars as it gives us both identidy and adds to giving us different looks for our cars.

My real reason for the love of our auto deployed spoilers is that we share a design similar to that of the Bugatti Veyron!

Clean lines and awesome design!

Tell you what..since you like the pop-up and I like the SRT fixed spoiler I'll trade you my spoiler for yours. Better yet, why don't we just trade cars?

YES., I have crushed a can under the wing. I wondered if there was a safety feature where if there was an object (a hand or somehting) in there it would stop. Well it did not stop and just crushed that can no problem. so keep you fingers out of there

I like the pop up spoiler more. But i would not mind having a fixed spoiler like the SRTs, but the SRTs is too "beefy". I think it seems a bit out of place. It should not be hard to design a custom one though.

i mounted an aftermarket aluminum wing on top of my stock one and painted it JDM pink. I get a lot of compliments on it.

Here is the one I bought, it bolts right on:

Did you fully extended it to get that complete ricer effect?

it is not that big, it is a subtle 58" tall when extended. It looks pretty sweet.

Yes; especially for a 400 hp Roadster

With the startech V8 is the same. As it has a base model spoiler, most people think that it is a 218 hp model. ( I love the faces of the Porsche drivers, if they have to wath the taillights of my 426 hp-Crossfire-Coupe.)

At first I wasn't that fond of the SRT spoiler after having an 04 coupe for about 3 years, but it grew on me and I like the SRT spoiler better now. You can see over the SRT spoiler better than the N/A through the rear veiw mirror. I think it flows with the lines of the car from a side or a rear angle veiw beautifully.

Similar to the extent that our spoilers both go up and down. The Bugatti's spoiler is functional to the point that it has the ability to vary angles of attack, thus creating a higher degree of down force at speed.

But as to my preference between the SRT and the Base/Limited ? I go with the retractable wing. Sorry SRT guys, the whale tail does nothing for me what so ever !!!

Just my Dos Centavos !
