Default House of Power

I just ran across an article and web site about House of Power. Looks like the can supercharge our N/A V6 or V8 MB engnes. Sorry if this has already been posted. I did a search and didn't find anything.

Here is an interesting article:

http://europeancar.automotive.com/68...kit/index.html

Here is their web site:

http://www.hopracing.com/index.php

Looks like they can do incredible things to the 3.2L V6 the various V8's of the same family.

Hmmmmm..... I wonder how much HP/torque the clutch, tranny and rear end can hold?

HDDP put a SRT engine in his N/A manual Crossfire and is racing his car without any issues.

You are right. He installed a racing clutch at the time he changed engines. His car is a dedicated race car and is being drivin a little harder than most of us drivie our own cars.

I spoke with House of Power today to talk about some of their capabilities as well as Mercedes engine swaps and What I am doing with my V8 conversion. On thing he mentioned is that he done n/a V6 to AMG32/Srt6 conversions very successfully. He also mentioned that he is achieving over 400HP at the wheels with the SRT6/AMG32 eninge. I asked how he did it and said, ported heads, headers, cams and smaller pulley. He mentioned the Votec supercharger kit he sells generally won't fit on the V6 becuase the engine is shorter which moves the supercharger too far back which interferes with the inner fenders.

So is the HoP Stg I: Type C1 CLKHoP Stg I: Type C1 CL kit only for a v8 or will this one fit our cars?

Looks pretty easy if it does?

He said the kit fits the engine but may not fit the chassis because the V6 is shorter which means the supercharger is moved back towards the inner fenders. He asked me to send some pictures of the engine compartment and he will let us know what will fit. He did say that if anone justs wants to drop an SRT6 engine in, it can be done without much problem and even use the stock ECU which you can see pictures on his website where he did this to a C class.

Hmm, it would be neat if we could just pop on the SC Kit. If we all end up looking for SRT engines we probably should just trade in our cars and get an SRT It could get pretty expensive this way!

The typical cost for a turbo or s/c kit is around $7,000. If you sell your car your car yourself and shop for a good deal on an SRT you may come out ahead. If you trade your car in for an SRT you may be better off with a super charger kit by the time the dealer steals your old car.

The guy I spoke to was named Josh. He is a very bright guy and know how to get a bunch of HP out of these engines. I thought our community should be aware of a new option since there aren't many options out there.

I was interested since I am working on a V8 swap and will supercharge the V8 once I have it running. Hopefully Josh will join our site and share his ideas.

Hello Mike,

The transmission itself the 722.6 can withstand upwards of 550+ rwhp (rear wheel horsepower) the drivetrain itself suffers from a 19% to 21% drivetrain loss. The rear differential which is different in both crossfires just as it is in the C320 vs the C32 AMG. The lower one being I believe the 3.27 gear ratio is good for upwards of 400+ rwhp, and the other which should be a 3.08 differential is good for 500+ rwhp. Personally I have yet to see any failure of these diffs, I have a few C32's and 55 AMG's making some considerable rwhp without failures. What is the weak links are the axles themselves, they tend to snap off at the wheel hubs.

Hi Josh,
Thanks for joining out site and talking about the Crossfire. I have checked out your site and cant wait to see if we can get our NA's up to that 400+ mark. We have great cars but they really should have come with more hp then they did to compete in the American market against the Vette and Viper.

Clutch Upgrade would be a wise choice when power levels start increasing. Also a lighter flywheel would be a good idea when doing the upgrade, removing rotational weight frees up parasitic drag allowing the motor to rev quicker .

Thanks for the very complete and specific reply, Josh. Looks like we've got plenty of room to spare with some parts on these cars.
