Default Light out issue...

Figured I'd post this before going to the gym, and I'll look at schematics tonight. I had that oh so famous it seems HID light out with one of my headlights out problem. Well sent them back and reinstalled my normal lights. Used to be when my headlight went out (HID) the "light out" light would also come on. Nice. Well even after putting my other lights (regular halogen) back in the car... the light still randomly came on, but neither headlight went out. So i have received my new kit (btw from pilotHID) and it is the slim w/capacitor kit. It seems as though I'm having the same problem just now that the HIDS are back in the passenger side light will go out consistently with my "light out" light. So taking a step back to before i put the hids back in... what wouldve been still causing the light out light to ..... come on? wow that sounds like a doozie.

Maybe another intermittant bulb connection? License plate, side marker?

Happy hunting.

yeah its weird whatever it is, it is relevant to the headlight (HID) not coming on.

So some simple diagnostics until I can take it apart tomorrow. I pulled the fuse cover tonight while my Right low beam HID was not coming on and Right Low Beam #6 fuse reads 0mV. Test the Left Low Beam fuse #8 and it reads 14.7-8 mV consistent. I pull the fuse for the right low to check it and its good with the meter. Put it back in and BADDOW the f'n right low beam comes on and my "light out" indicator light is no longer lit. I'll keep you posted as I look at it tomorrow. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Is the Illumination Control Module along with the 21 pin connector the diagnostics sections references actually attached to the headlamp switch below/behind it as pictured in the "2004_Crossfire_Service_Manual.pdf" ..ummmm PDF page # 874???

Answer:the 21-pin is actually right behind the switch.. everything you need at least to hook the meter up to.

Any cons to relaying directly off of the multi function switch??? so essentially... multifunction switch(signal) --> 2 relays (one for left and one for right) --> HIDS. Just looking for opinions. I would then have to pull the light out bulb but i dont think i would care as long as I had HID consistency. I am the type where i would notice if one of my lights were off.. either after a good washing or something i am sure.

UPDATE: OMFG GD'it!!! i absolutely hate pilotHID lights. 2nd ballast to go and all while trying to correct this problem its only been 2 weeks since i received this new slim 6k kit. I'm just going to order the MC Gen 5's.

Whelp all is back to normal. Although I didn't find the "issue"... I have found the solution. I went to Ultrabrightlights.com and ordered the new MC 6000k set with the relay harness and the cancelers. I have to say it did take me 4-5 hours to get the bumper off, lights out and wire it all up. But!!! I am finally satisfied witht the job done and it has fixed my light out issue 100%. Their ustomer service is great also. I highly recommend anyone trying to get this setup to get it from them. I ordered mine Sunday morning with USPS express shipping. It was out by Monday afternoon and I had it this morning at 11am. Note I am in Louisville KY and I believe it was shipped from Fl but still. Cool thing is is that Monday on their site they offered the coupon code ULTRA20 for 20% off of your HID kit(not the cancellors) but totaled $61 back in my pocket. I believe the final cost was like 300 and that was express shipped. What are your guys' opinions on the stock foglights matched with the HID vs. ...... HID top and HID bottoms same color or...... HID top and HID bottom with the bottoms a little more on the lower side 3400's or something. Its probably the first thing I noticed when I stepped back to look at them was I kind of wish the bottoms were a little more yellow. I think my mind is just stuck JDM from my old REX as I see a lot of Lexus vehicles and the new camrys and such that have HID tops 6-8000 with std. fog bottoms. Ill be looking through the forums i guess to see all the galleries and see what you guys have then make up my mind if I want to change the bottoms out.
