Default Servicing!

Sorry for any repeat threads on this subject..

I've just taken ownership of my X-F, 42,000 miles on the clock - and have the '2 spanner' service alert symbol showing with a reading of around -21,000.

Does this mean that my X-F is 21k miles overdue a service?

I've rang my local Chrysler dealership today and they're service price is likely to either be £211 or £499, the latter price depending on whether I need the 'full' deal such as sparks and the fuel filter changing etc. £211 gets me the expected, oil, oil filter & air conditioning filter changed.

Could anyone give me any advice as to an alternative garage to take it perhaps? (North West - UK) somewhere where you might have had a great service? Or would you guys advise to just take it to my local Chrysler dealership and pay the prices quoted as you feel it isn't bad value?

Thanks in advance!

Default Re: Servicing!

Likely the FSS was never reset after service.

I would DIY (if possible):
  1. change oil & filter (Synthetic 0w-40 and fleece (not paper) filter)
  2. Change cabin filter
  3. change air filters (k&n as long as you are doing it)
  4. reset FSS
No need for plugs at this point.

This will give you a good starting point.

FFS RESET PROCEDURE:

1. Turn key to the ON/RUN position.
2. Within one second press the ****/button twice.
3. The present status for days or distance is displayed.
Within 10 seconds turn the key to OFF/
LOCK.
4. Press and hold the ****/button, while turning
the key to ON/RUN again. The present status for
days or distance is displayed once more. Continue
to hold the ****/button.
After approximately 10 seconds, a signal sounds and
the display shows 7,000 miles (Canada: 11,000 km) for
approximately 10 seconds.

5. Release the ****/button.
