Default Rearview Mirror.

I bought a new rearview mirror w/ compass for the Crossfire. Now if I can just get the stock one off, I'll be in business. HELP!!!

Does anyone know how the mirror is mounted? Is it a standard shoe mount? There's a hole at the bottom of the shoe cover but I can't see any type of fastener ( allen screw, star, etc.) there. My guess is that there's some sort of clip. If I'm right I just need to know how to release the clip.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You need to put a 5mm pin or dowel into that hole and rotate the mirror 90 degrees left or right. To unplug the harness remove the courtesy lamp lense and remove screws.Unplug the mirror harness connector.

I tried using a 5mm drill bit as a pin with no luck. Is there a trick to it?

I inserted the 5mm drill (shank end) into the hole on the bottom of the mount and rotated the mirror 90* both ways with no results. I even rotated it 180* each way with no luck.

HELP!!! Thanks

Make sure your rotating the mirror base not the mirror.

I just tried it again. I inserted the 5mm drill bit. It went in about 5/16 inch. I tried to rotate the mirror mount base but nothing. I'm afraid to put too much pressure on it. I don't want to tear the shoe off the windshield.

Should it turn easily? Or does it take a pretty firm twist?

Thanks again.

I never had one off. I'm just going by the service manual.Try using a small screwdriver so you have a handle to push on.It may not come off to easy.If you still have trouble bring it to the dealer.

Hey Wes... did you ever get this thing installed? Where did you get the new mirror with compass? Is it also electrochromic like the stock mirror?

I sold the mirror on ebay. The problem was the mount. The mirror needed a wedge type mount and we have a twist lock type mount. I was going to change the mount bu decided against it. If I need to know which way I'm going I will just have to guess.

Or I could get a boat compass and mount it in the center of the dash..
