Default Question on odometer readings

HI, Just had my instrument cluster replaced because the dealer scratched the clear plastic while removing or installing a new properly fitted head liner. Now my car has zero miles on it. I thought digital odometers could be set to the proper mileage. Not true for the crossfire? I don't understand why the plastic couldn't be replaced without a new cluster. Not sure if this modular component idea is so smart.

Hmmm... this could be a liability problem if you sell/trade it and have to sign an odometer statement saying that the numbers displayed are correct to the best of your knowledge. I think I'd be trying to get the dealership to "fix" the readout to what it SHOULD be (i.e., add however miles were on it to the current reading, and change the reading to that new number).

I know those clusters can be odered with the mileage set before it is shipped. If that isn't the case with the MB stuff, they will prob have to send in some guys from Corporate or Germany, as they did for the 1/2 shift issues in the beginning.

Push them until it is done right. You don't want any mileage issues when you go to sell the car.
