Squeeky Spoiler
Anyone else's spoiler squeek?
Mine started squeeking badly about three weeks ago. Its loud enough the radio won't drown it out (at reasonable levels anyway). And, only on opening. At closing it isn't silent (never was) but it doesn squeek.
I had thought it just needed to be lubed. It was very very wet the week it started squeeking. I was going to get it done when I got the next oil-change. Well, I went on a business trip last week and the wife went for a joy ride. When she heard it (didn't know about the squeek) she took it right in (didn't want to be blamed for breaking my baby or something)
Anyway, they lub'ed it right up for her, but it still squeeks. No difference at all. She didn't have time to leave it there for real work, so I am dropping it off later this week (Thursday), now that I am back.
Sorry, no detail other than that. Will post a followup afterward.

I've had good luck in the past with Remington Dri-Lube on 'hard to quiet' noisy car parts. It's a teflon (I think) product, made for slicking a firearm's action. Get it any any decent gun store, maybe even not so decent ones (like WalMart, Kmart, etc. in their gun aisles).
Yep, only makes noise as it deploys. (Of course you can hear the motor when it retracts, but that's normal).
Thanks for the tip. If the dealership falls on their faces with a second try on it, will with give it a shot.

OMMFG!!!
ops:
Where's the noise?!? This thing has never been this quiet! Even with the radio off you only barely hear it deploy and retract. Wife went for a quick ride with me last night, she was reading the paper and didn't even notice it had gone up the first time. Then, myself, didn't hear it a few minutes later (after a quick stop for a burger), I notice my speed was pushing 60, check the rear view and the sneaky little bugger deployed and I didn't even hear it!
Its not silent, mind you, but tons better. Outside the car, stopped with the windows down and my head out the window it still makes plenty of noise. But, from the first day, it was loud enough to notice over the raido with the windows up tearing down the road.
Anyway, they simply opened up it, cleaned it, re-lubed and adjusted it. When my wife brought it in they had attempted to lub it without disassembling it.
Well worth (ahem) 'tooling' around in a Ford Van for a couple hours. (I tried not to even look close enough to tell the model, and washed my hands afterward)
