Default Button under accelerator? Stock or Moded?

Am new to the forum, 2nd post, so please excuse my ignorance. I purchased an 04 with 48000 miles, loving the car so far but I have a few questions:

1. I have a button that is sitting underneath my accelerator (see pic). Is this OEM or stock or was this car at one time nitrous fed?
2. If its stock, what is it there for?
3. I am 5'8" and I feel too big in this car, I have the seat at its lowest setting and all the way back hitting the back-stop, you larger dudes, what have you done to remedy this?
4. The seat backstop cannot be moved or removed can it?
5. What is the "no brainer" mods to make to this car that are under $1000?

The "Button" is affectionaly referred to as the OMG Button. Except that you own an NA version so it is the "OMG" button. Next time you are out on open road and doing about 40 MPH step down on the accelerator untill you feel that button under the pedal. Now punch until you feel it snap. Don't let up.

But first, hold on to sumpin'

It is stock and comes with the autostick version of the car.

Do a throttle reset before you drive your car again.
Put your key into the ignition and turn it to the right except don't start thecar.
Now hold the pedal to the floor, hard, for 5 seconds. Then lift you foot.
Now turn the ignition off but leave the key in for two full minutes.

This resets the throttle to factory. The computer learns your driving style and tries to anticipate it. If more than one person drives the car you need to do this every three or four weeks. Cheapest performance mod available and it's free.

I do mine every 4 to 6 weeks as I am the only driver.

If you get a sprint booster(about $325.00), You won't have to do this.

CAI will help as will a drop in tune from TVT or Eurocharged. Use the Forum Search feature on those two names to get more info.

For a grand or less you can get a lot of performance boost. After that, it is a case of diminishing returns. These are not like the ubiquitouis Mustangs or Hondas so aftemarket bolt ons are kinda rare. But plenty of stuff is available from advertisers here on the forum.

Just remember, this is not a dragster platform. You will never make it so. NA's cannot break into 13's (so far) without juice.

I am 6' 2" and have no issues with the car except getting in and out. You must be used to a big sedan. These ain't. They are small tightfitting gloves that hug your butt. Good thing 'cause once you get used to the roadability of this little pit bull, you will be pulling side G's just refresh the perma grinn.

Glad your with us newbie. Don't hesitate to ask questions. Great bunch of clowns here happy to give free and sometimes worthless advice .

But always with enthusiasm and a little ribbin'

At 5'8" you should have absolutely no problem fitting. Do you have the seat back tilted way back?

I had to go out and try the OMG[SIZE="4"] button, and it works.....geez, impressive. I am impressed with the power of this vehicle, it lacks the bottom end im used to in my v8's but the mid power is impressively smooth, love it.

I took a closer look at the seat, moved it all the way up and noticed the previous owner left a deflated mini football under the seat, so I got that situated. Seeing that much taller dudes were making it work I had to do some research, better now.

One thing I am not used to is how stiff the suspension is, great in the corners but no so fabulous driving down LA streets, my cd's skip often. I am guessing the suspension is stock but never had it up on the racks so I dont know for sure.

I actually like not having "alot of options" for upgrades, the truth is ive had mustangs and camaros all my life and there was so much shi* out there I never knew what to buy, not the problem with this vehicle.

I am guessing there is no "supercharger" for this vehicle huh? something I could build the bottom end with? And as far as nitrous what is the system to use in my NA crossfire?
Btw what is NA?

What does the ST stand for on the front and rear emblems?

If you are the only driver of the car, do you need to reset the throttle system every few weeks? I am the only driver.

My car has this crap on the inside panels, and it appears it is peeling off (diamond pattern covering around gauges and switches. It appears these are aftermarket sticker covers to cover up the interior panels, or is this stock? If I were to take them off would the adhesive be a bit*h to remove? anyone have experience?

NA Stands for Normaly Aspirated. There are bolt on SC units but not reccomended.

Your low end power issues are more likley related to the wire electronic throttle system. Not the motor itself as the 3.2 liter MB engine is quite torquey. With a sprint booster, that goes away. It adds no HP but does improve the throttle lag.
As to the throttle reset, I recommend it every few weeks but to each his own there. Even if you are the only driver, accumulated error reduces performance.

The aftermarket sticker stuff was likely a real cool mod when installed but that stuff doesn't always wear well. And some people simmply don't like it. Matter of taste.

"Goof Off" might help with removal but would damage the original surface. WD 40 would take much longer but be much safer on the original finish.

Which iself isn't all that durable. You may find it in bad shape which is possibly why it was covered. New parts are rare but they show up on Ebay a lot. And sometimes here in the "Parts for Sale " section.

I have no idea what the ST stands for. Sounds aftermarket to me. There is no "ST" model of which I am aware.

There is an SRT model of the car. Available in 05 only (a few 06's exist) and it is supercharged. Stock at 330 HP some guys have them up over 440 HP. These cars area bargain fetching as low as $13K to$24K right now, depending on miles and condition. I just bought one for $13.5 and have seen a few lower in price.
The SRT is quicker than just about anything out there, especialy anything stock. A good platform to develope a dragster.

Unlike the NA which frankly is a dissapointment on the 1/4 if that is your passion. So far none have trapped in the 13's without juice. Perhaps one will this year as a few guys are seriously trying to break that barrier.
But for the money, it is cheaper to just trade out for the SRT if you can find one. The stock C32 motor is awesome but you'll blow it if you try to blow it. And you'll spend the money that could have gotten you the SRT already built to go fast with the AMG powerplant.

SRT's are 13.2 second cars stock and will get into the 11's with some mods and tinkering with the pulleys and tunes.

They are mean critters and while I prefer the manual shifting NA, my Wifes SRT is king of the road and not yet ever beat. It's a 12.4 second car.

The one we just purchased will be up for raffle at the CAA. $100 buys one of only 350 tickets. You don't have to be present to win. Drawing is June 24th in St Louis.

PM me for details

If you are talking about the front and rear ovals on the "wings" they may be decals. It is possible it stands for "Star Tech". Star Tech produced some accessory parts for the Crossfire.

yes the ST's are on the ovals in the middle of the wings. this car feels awfully stiff over the bumps, im wondering if has lowering springs. the body is really close to the tires, does anyone know what color the stock springs are? The sticker crap on the interior panels makes it look cheezy as hell, might attempt to remove it this weekend. It appears that the glue is ooozing out the sides of the stickers and causing a mess in places.

If I want to go with the nitrous option whats a decent kit to get? Also as far as an exhaust what fits nice and sounds good?

Thanks for the help thus far! Its appreciated.

so I was doing some searching and ST came up with suspension technologies....got me thinking so I went to take a look. I could barlely get my head under the car. All the springs say EIBACH FEDERN SX and the shocks are yellow with a black boot.

I know who eibach is but what is federn? So the reason why this things rides like it has no suspension is because it is lowered, now im wondering what else is up with this car, also saw that it has toyo meats.

Those sticker things ooze in the heat because intruth, the adhesives are actually a hot glue for box sealing So, if you are a southern owner you are likely to see that. Heating the parts in the sun will help remove the stickers. The glue residue will dissolve with WD 40 and some tedious scrubbing. Yuk!

As for nitrous, it is dangerous on autocross and places like the Dragon. I don't go with gas. So my advice would be useless.
