Just got thrown a curve ball. What to do?
So as some of you might know, I'm working on developing parts for the m112 motors. I'm right in the middle of the turbo kit mock up for the v6 and I just found an awesome deal.
I can snag a 2001 s55 amg parts car for cheap (na 5.4 v8, not the sc'd) which means I could use the fuel pump, brakes, motor, etc. and ditch what I dont need and maybe recoup some cost of the project (and give lantana a run
) and still make decent power for the time being, maybe just enough to keep me happy with the car.
I would still continue the development plan on the m112, albeit slower than I am now.
Thoughts, opinions?

The V8 is better than the N/A. Might throw off handling a little but if V8 is what you want go for it. There would be nearly zero room in the engine bay if you planned on turbos later though. You would have to try a rear mounted turbo setup.
yea, after 2 weeks of removing everything out of the engine bay ive determined even with t25/t28 twins theres no room in the engine bay, so the only option is rear mount.
Depending on what I can work out with the parts car is what decides everything. Getting it here is the hardest part. but I do ultimately plan on boosting whatever motor I put in my xf.
The only thing im not sure of is the na AMG motors crank pattern, since Im putting it in a 6spd car. I think the na motors all share the same crank pattern and all S/C motors have their own.. I think.

HDDP ran into some sort of problem putting a SRT6 engine in his 6-speed many years ago. I think it was the bolt pattern on the end of the crank being slightly off.
You might want to search for HDDP's engine swap thread and give it a read.

The supercharged AMG motors use a different crank pattern. The N/A's are still the 2 groupings of 4 or whatever its like.
