Default Alarm Issues

I have a 2004 xfire, and this weekend the alarm kept going off for no reason. I unlocked the car and shut the alarm off and it kept going off anyway. Has anyone encountered this issue with the alarm system before?

Go to the forum search, type in "alarm" and take your pick.
Lots of problems, take your pick of the situations that are like yours.

If you still have the original battery in your 2004, that may be the problem. These cars are fairly sensitive to battery voltage, and an OEM battery from a 2004 is now 7 years old and becoming weak which can cause all kinds of strange glitches like alarms going off for no reason.

I will have the battery checked today. It is crazy. These beautiful cars can drive you carzy and the Chryler dealer where I live would'nt know a crossfire from PT Cruiser. I called and asked them if they have encountered or heard of any alarm issues with these crossfires and the service tech says they have had only a hand full in thier shop (which is a good thing) not helping me out much. I asked him if he thought it could be the bcm and he did'nt even know what the was .

You're right, the Chrysler dealers are clueless, and the Mercedes dealers may not want to work on them because they say "Chrysler". If you can do your own oil changes (which are very easy in these cars), then you will save big $$$ and make sure the change is done correctly.

This forum is your best resource for troubleshooting and repairs. Almost any issue you will encounter has already happened to someone here, and the "Search" function is very powerful.

If your battery is white and says "Varta" on it, then it is probably still the original. Even without the alarm problems I'd get a 7-year-old battery replaced ASAP. At that age they can die suddenly without any warning leaving you stranded, and the Group 48 size batteries we need may not be in stock at your local parts stores. In fact, I'm picking up a new AGM battery for mine this afternoon.

Good luck!

I will have to agree this forum has more info than the three dealers I called yesterday. I am glad I joined.

The battery is the original one, dated from 04, and I am going to get a spare one when I have the battery checked today.

Thanks for the info, and hopefully my alarm will quit having a mind of its own SOON!!

Thanks

I'm having the exact same problem. Except today the alarm went off numerous times while the top was down and it then locked up and prevented the top from going back up automatically..what was yall's end result here? Cheers!
