Default Outrageous

My sister in law was driving her crossfire one afternoon and her check engine light came onand the engine died. After that the car would start but barely run and could not rev it up. I have a obdII reader and I got 6 codes. One was crankshaft sensor malfunction and the others were cylinder misfire I brought it to the dealer and they said the catylitic converter needed to be replaced; that was under warranty. But also they said all 4 oxygen sensors were bad and it would be 1600$ that just is hard to believe

I don't think O2 sensors, but what I read. Sounds like a fuel trim problem, probably a too lean condition. Unmetered airflow. If it was just the rears, then the catalyst would be suspect. Usually the fronts are fuel trim code related. Not all the time mind you. You can have a bad catalyst, and then the codes would be performance/efficiency related, but without knowing what the codes are, I'd lean towards fuel trim. O2 sensors aren't hard to do though, O2 sensor crowsfoot are 22mm I think??

Try changing the crankshaft position sensor first... then see how it runs.... I had mine go flakey at the track and it did a similar thing with the rough running, but I shut it right down and re-started and it ran okay. I did end up replacing the CPS after I got it home.... it is very easy and I think the sensor is about $70 at NAPA.... same Bosch part as factory..

edit: I didnt get all those other codes though....

I agree that the first thing you should try replacing is the Crankshaft Position Sensor.

Got the car back today they replace one cat and I have no motor cover/air breather the car idles fine but when you give it gas it wants to die and now I still have random missfire code and mass airflow circuit intermiddent code and manifold pressure high input code. ??????
Not sure if no breather is causing trouble
