Car cranks but won't fire, but eventually will
My 04 crossfire has just recently started with this problem, it will continue to crank even when I am not touching the key, but will not fire. Then once it fires it runs fine but the check engine light comes on. 1st time it happened I thought it was the key fob so I replaced the batteries. It has done it 2 times since and usually after I have driven even a short distance and shut it off then 10 min later it wont fire, but then does in a few mins. Any IDEAS???
Normall for the starter to stay engaged for a few seconds, but cranks and no fire is most likely the CPS (crank shaft sensor) search the threads, fairly cheap to get and easy to replace.

When you turn the key to start it, the car will keep cranking even when you let go of the key, this is normal & some crossfires do this. i have 2, one does this the other doesn't & it's totally normal. You can have the dealer fix this theres a TSB if it annoys you. It doesn't annoy me anymore.
As for not starting and long cranking times before starting, check the Fuel pump. As mine also had this problem & the Fuel pump needed to be replaced & now its starts right up.

If you have a mechanically inclined friend who owes you a favor, get him/her to do it for you.
Good luck.

So, don't be working on your car when going thru a divorce - THAT is the lesson.
