Default AIR FILTER

Okay I know I have heard some talk of installing K&N Air filters. I know in my last car I had a full intake wasnt made by K&N but was nice and improved speed and sound.
As far as the K&N I have never been a real big fan I only put in in My quad and nly thought it was ok.
So the main question is, was it worth it?
Any big increase in HP?
And better yet how does it sound?
Pics and links would be great too.. Thanks

$90...i feel it was worth it due to the fact the filters never have to be replaced (just cleaned & oil)....no change in sound....increase in hp?.....who knows...but it can't hurt...you can't really feel 2-3 hp.

Most mods like this will only net you 3 horsepower. An entire throttle body intake will only give you 7 to 10! If you want power? ... Go here:

4 flat to sixty? Yeah, no problem.

For those interested with K&N filters go to www.4filters.com and look under the 2003 Mercedes SLK 320.

Have fun!

The SLK 320 (2003 or 2004) K&N filter part number is 33-2185. I called K&N and asked if the Crossfire required 1 or 2 filters. The tech assistance person said (paraphrased) "We don't make a filter for the Crossfire and would not recommend the Mercedes filter because it may not fit properly and may let in unfiltered air."

So, are K&N users sure the SLK 320 filter fits and how many are required.

Thanks in advance

I've just recieved my filter this week but have not installed it yet.

I've only got one filter in the box so are you saying I need to buy two seperate filters or should there have been two in the box?

Crossfire has two (identical) air filters.

So I figured... it was a poor attempt at giving us an 'out'

Not surprising someone could get confused, since the manual clearly states "replace the air filter at the intervals shown on Schedule A." (emphasis added)

I don't want to get shot at, but WM had posts on this ages ago that said you need two filters. I took him at his word and ordered two and a cleaning kit. Mine came from another site that I will have to look up, because my mind is mush, since it is Friday, and the sun is out, it is the first time it has been over 70 degrees in months and I really should be going for a ride.......

Anyway I'll just order another and that will be that.

Nuthin' says you can't run one K&N and one stock till the other arrives... at least I don't see why not since it won't be but a couple weeks.
