Default Anyone willing to shoot a few pics of your airboxes? P

I need to gather a few pics of your airboxes... both if possible with birds-eye view too so I can understand a bit more of placement and air snorkle (plumbing) issues.

Thanks for your help!

Vegas:

He is talking about the units that contain the air filters and the piping that directs the intake air from the front of the car into the engine.

Make any more sense now?

:-)

This is a pre-production air box, I think. Does anyone have one like this on a production model? I actually like it better than the production one. I like the chrome Chrysler logo on the front.

OK. check out my album. That big silver plastic thing is the air box. You remove it with a good pull.

There is two filters in the airbox too the right and left. You have to remove the box as the screws are on the under-side.

The two black round tubes feed the air to the box, throght the filters and intersec to a single hole in the back of the airbox down to the engine.

Are you looking to install something different?

I hope this helps

Ugh... people with nice cars that don't know anything about them. Not to offend, but you could at least not ruin a good thread off topic simply because you don't know what it's about.

I've been wanting a good picture of the intake system, too, so this interests me.
Robertson, could you please remove the silver Crossfire engine cover and take another picture? And one of the airbox from the side of the car after the engine cover is off, if it's no trouble?

James, my digtal camera was borrowered about a hour ago. Want get picks until wed most likely thurs.

The eng cover you speak of is the air box.

This is not like a BMW where you have a eng cover and seperate air box.

It is all interconnected and as far as I can see a major componete of the car.

If you guys are thinking cold air box like Grumpe M or EIS you may have to re-think as there will be a mounting problem and it wont look too pretty.

One major change could be made to the intake tubes as they are very thin plastic items but even if made of ceramic the air will be heated as soon as it hits the eng cover.

Here we go again..........

Your statement is totally uncalled for. No one ruined anything. There is nothing wrong with some humor thrown in... that's just the nature of a lot of Crossfire owners.

 Well - I probably would have been done with my posts in this thread - but now I must post another "off topic" thread to reply to you - if you don't want to read it - go to the next one - I'll never know the difference. :?

If you read my first post, I said I was trying to keep up with you guys. That means I'm Trying To Learn. Why not on this forum?? :?: If I'm not invited to find things out, let me know .. ops: For now I know everything I need to know about the Crossfire. It is a hot car and it attracts great owners - most are friendly and have a great sense of humor. (Oh but I forgot - YOU don't even own a Crossfire according to your signature.) :!:

I do not need to know what is under the hood - that is why I have a warranty and a mechanic. I have no plans of altering the car (pretty boring of me, isn't it?) But I am trying to learn.

I'm sorry if this disrupted anyone's "forum experience".

thanks azoutlaw & vegas!, you're right, there are many of us (i'm certain) that appreciate the humorous, lighter side of this forum as well...! it's a great group of people, and for all our little quirks, we all seem to continue to learn something from one another.

anyway, thanks too, wes, for your comments...as my shot under the hood would look very different than the one posted (glad to hear you suspect it was pre-production...mine is much more sporty and attractive as well...and though i don't know a darn thing about what's under there, i'm proud to show it off)...

Anyway, given that i have such limited knowledge/intimacy with my engine and it's mechanicals (I leave all that high-tech stuff to the wonderful techs at my dealership), it's good to know when others see something different, they, as forum members, are willing to discuss it without question and educate the rest of us. i'm thankful... bonster

(alabaster, autostick, contis...etc, etc)

i always look forward to everyone's posts...but for all of you 'regulars', thanks for all of the helpful insight. what would we do without you guys

andrew... thanks for the pictures. To get at the filters etc... all you do is pull up on the cover, no hardware unscrew???

to remove the main cover on the engine...just pull upward (no tools needed)...but to remove the filters...you have to use a hex/star tool to remove each filter cover lid (4 bolts)...in the first picture you can see the air filter cover removed off to the side.

AZ:

No screws involved. Just pull up on the rear of the cover, and then the front. The pipes for the air filters will come off with the cover. You need a star bit, T-15, I think, to remove the covers of the air cleaners. Then just put in the new filters, screw on the filter covers, and reinstall the engine cover.

That one is easy.
