Can't remove trunk liner-roadster
Roadster/convertible model.
Trying to help a neighbor lady with a burned out brake light, I was not able to remove the trunk's inside panel on the right. All the little push-pin fasteners came out, but that still left a steel post topside holding the liner. I assume this post and its twin on the other side are anchors for a cargo net or some such but I could not tell if it is screwed into the metal, bolted/nutted on the back side (which I cannot see or access), or how it is retained. Didn't want to force/mar it, nor did I want to damage the liner by trying to pull it out from underneath the post. Any help/advice would be appreciated.
I did get the bulb replaced but had to climb inside the trunk, contort my aging body into a position it still has not recovered from, reach over the loosened liner and--barely--get my hand far enough in there to change the bulb. Seemed to do the trick, but I'm still not sure the bulb is fully seated in the socket. If I could have fully removed the liner it would have been much easier.

Hey there, that's super nice of you to help her out
Actually you made it far too difficult. There's a piece of hard "fabric" (seems to be cardboard backed) that simplly slides out from where the carpet meets the vinyl top part of the roof. At least on the coupes, if this is a roadster I wouldn't know.

I thought you reached around the liner to get to it.
Surely others have had to change the tail-light/brake-light bulb in a ROADSTER/CONVERTIBLE.
Yes, as I said in my original post, it is indeed possible to change the bulb without completely removing the side liner(s) but if I have to do it again in the future I would certainly like to be able to get that post/anchor off and take the liner all the way out. That way I can avoid being half-crippled for the next two days as my body tries to regain the shape it had before wedging myself in that tiny trunk and forcing my arm and shoulder to bend in ways nature never intended.
Why the designers couldn't have provided better access I don't know, but if I had ten cents for every bad word I said while doing the job, I could buy a nice handgun.

An easier way (I've heard) is to raise the top and stop it when the tonneau panel is vertical. Access the taillight from above. Ta da.
Let us know if that really is a 'better' way.
