Jane - The AutoZone battery fit exactly with no spacers, mods, etc? My orig Varta is on year 5, and I may be in the market soon.

Jim: It fit perfectly. It was a Duralast. I specifically requested the same OEM dimensions. FAirly easy to install as my nonmechanic husband put it in for me. Car took right off. It cost $216.00.

I really didn't realize how heavy these batteries are.

Jane - Got it. Thanks.

Looks like Johnson Controls makes Varta, Duralast and a few others.

Jane glad to hear you got it taken care of. I hope that is a good battery, it is over twice the price of a good Interstate battery that will fit in the Crossfire. Be easy on the husband...

Well, FP, they are made for racing so to speak, so I didn't expect them to last the usual 4-5 yrs. The weight is very light compared to a full size battery. I put my regular charger on it, charged it back up, and then put my maintainer back on. She starts just fine now. It may have lost the ground from the maintainer. She's working now.

OK, need some help. I installed the new battery from Rob, but have no power, and doesn't even click when I turn the key. Any thoughts on what to look for?

FP, did you run a voltmeter across the battery termminals to see if it actually had any power to it? I would have that be the first step.
Was it shipped to you or did you pick it up? Batteries don't like to be dropped or banged around alot.

Rob is sending me a new one. I think I got one that was DOA. In the meantime I was able to recharge my old battery off the car. It starts just fine now, but have the water coolant light on. I don't know if it will go away eventiually. My radio wont power on.

Have any of you had these sympoms as a result of a dead battery?

the battery may have a dead cell in it FP. Keep in mind that little battery you are buying is for racing. It is for weight reduction. So, you will have to keep an eye on the shuryken, maybe run a maintainer like I do. These little batteries are a lot like a motorcycle battery. The can be contrary. Hopefully, the new battery will take care of your problems.

Doc, I bought the shuryken for performance reasons. While I don't race, I want to keep weight off the car. That's why I even keep weight in mind when buying tires. My car is a daily driver from Spring to Fall, so I hope the lighter battery keeps the charge. For the winter maybe I'll pull it off and bring it down to my basement.

The lighter battery will make up for the added weight of the SRT bumper and all the chrome

My battery went flat over the winter as a result of not running the car enough to keep it charged. It would not start the car (click, click, click) but the radio worked fine.
When it was charged the only light that was on was the ESP light and that was fixed by turning the steering wheel blah blah blah...
Check the radio fuse and coolant level sensor connector.

Folks,
May this be a gentile reminder to drive your XF during the winter. If you cannot do so, may I suggest that you move to Colorado so that you can do those winter drives.

I do drive mine in the winter, 5 inches of snow is a little much though.
