car unlocking problems

Default car unlocking problems

Car wont lock or unlock with key fob, lights flash for open and close but does not unlock or lock. 2007 roadster. Manual locking button inside works. Lock problem just occured, fuses are good, before this high beam switch stopped working months ago ...........so...... any help greatly appreciated.

Hey Joe .... if you have an original battery in your car, you should replace it now, or have it checked. After that, replace key fob batteries. Other than that, if all that fails, there are more knowledgeable people here that will chime in. As I remember meeting you at Carlisle, you have a Special Edition roadster, and enjoyed your NYC stories. Good Luck ....

The door and trunk locks work using air pressure and vacuum. There is a unit in the trunk under the foam on the passenger side, maybe that's not working properly. There is the possibility that it has got wet due to a leak somewhere allowing water to get into the well that it sits in. If there is water you should be able to see it just by lifting the trunk mat and looking between the foam and the side of the well. There is no drain on this well so it slowly fills with water.
If the lights flash the fob is working and if you have no other problems the battery under the hood is OK.

See ..... what do I know. I told you someone would chime in. 180 is one of our resident gurus. Check it out. BUT ... check your battery also., just to be sure...

Thanks Guys I'll just have to do a process of elimination here, looks like liitle by little electrical problems come as the car ages.

Yep. Thanks for the picture.
Now I don't have to tear up one of my cars to see what it looks like under there!
