led replacement bulbs
After reading Bobbafettm topic on blue vision turn sigs (replaced mine with silver vision by Philips) It reminded me to post this topic.
www.ForMyMercedes.com unders SLK there is replacement LED bulbs for turn sigs and breaks. They require a resistor for each bulb but look cool (well, at least to me 8) )
Has anyone tryed this tech on any of there cars :?:
I e-mailed the guy who owns the site and he stated there is a new style comming out in a week or two.

NJspeed69 replaced his with LEDs. You should be able to find his post. He emailed me this link:

I haven't replaced them yet but intend to. I'd be curious what the new style will be.

Keep a look out for my post on the subject, I'll bump it up for everyone.
I have the entire back of the car replaced (brakes, turns, and backup).
It looks awesome! Much brighter in all respects, and turns on/off INSTANTLY. Regular bulbs seem to light up to full brightness painfully slow in comparison The turn signals also look clear unless turned on - when they flash BRIGHT YELLOW- not the stock orangey color.
I also tried several different bulbs - most LED replacement bulbs for cars suck - but I found some that work excellent - thats the link X-fired gave above.
Overall, now several months down the line, I am very pleased with this cheap mod. I think it gives the car a little touch of elegance, as well as performance, that it otherwise wouldn't have, because you really only see the LED tail lights on expensive higher end cars like Mercedes, Cadillac, BMW, etc.

I have tried these LED bulbs, the ones with the 6 side facing LED elements, and was very disappointed.
The side firing lights are still too weak to fill the lens and reflector with amber light from side view, and I think it is a hazard in daytime. The center view of the light is a bright yellow spot but dims dramatically as you view from off center even a bit.
You do have to file off the top pin or stud to get them to fit the socket.
