Default First service!

I need some advice as to my X's first service.
With all that has been posted here....I'm literally shaking to take it in.
It has 2300 miles on it....
Is it time for it's service??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,

I guess most of that depends upon what type of driving you do.

The general opinion here seems to be that for regular driving habits under regular driving condition, oil changes should be done every 5K miles.

If you drive in hot weather and is all city stop and go driving, or in very dusty conditions, you may want to change oil more often.

Mine is in the shop right now for the first oil change. I will let you know how it goes....

For what it's worth, I was at my dealership today on a non-Crossfire matter and asked my usual service advisor, who seemed knowledgeable about the CF in our brief conversation, when I should bring the CF in for its first oil change and he said 3000 miles, repeating that figure at my request. He knows what kind of oil it takes and that there is no "break-in" oil. I am aware that my dealership, a 5-Star dealership, views Phoenix, and I assume properly so, as a "severe service" area because of the high summer heat and there is always a lot of dust.

Check back through the tech forum... a while back there was a discussion concerning the same issue... some opted for 5k other decided to stay with the interval the computer in the car tells you. which is around 7k. In my case the computer was showing me I could go to 8k because of the conditions it had been driven

Personaly, I'm going with what the computer in the car says... it senses the condition of the oil.

I would never go with 3k... IMO it's only a money maker for the dealer...

I'm a fellow greater Phoenician (you don't live in Scottsdale and take offense, do you?), and I still think you're OK on the 5K interval. I've been in St. Louis and New York City in the summertime, I guess I fail to see how 100 degrees and 100% humidity in those steampits is any less harsh on an engine than Phoenix. Plus if you're anything like myself, your driving is a nice steady diet of city / highway mix driving. I just got my 300m oil changed Tuesday after about 4600, with no dire warning from the guys at Pitre.

So I'll just assume I have a couple of thousand miles to go...
It has 2306 miles as of today...
I'll wait till around 5k...
then I'll start to hyperventilate!

Your car will show you when your next A or B service is recommended. With key in ON/RUN position, within 1 second press the left **** twice and it will display either days (if a clock icon shows) or miles to next recommended service.

See pg. 96 of manual for more info.

Thanks to all my greater Phoenix friends for their posts. In light of the 5000/7000, etc. mile posts on other threads, I posted the 3000 mile comment by my service advisor (who is at Pitre by the way) because it's obviously a different view from the other posts and also the advice from the dashboard -- and prefaced it with, "For what it's worth..."

Make sure they put 8 - 8.5 quarts of SAE 0W-40 because their service manual says 6 quarts. Your owner's manual states 8.5 quarts on page 221.

Good Luck!

You all are fabulous...
I will read the TSB's and print them to carry with me.
I'm sure the Tech's won't like me when I am finished with them.

This Synthetic oil doesn't break down like regular oil. Im just going to let the car do the choosing of the oil change time. They mfg'd the car to know and I will trust its sensors to tell me when its time. Hopefully when I get my oil changed they will know how to properly service the Crossfire without any guesswork or blunders.....

Default It's time

[/b]OK............
Tomorrow is the day. Taking the X-fire in for it's first service.
At 2486 miles....will have the oil and fluids checked and changed....
The back hatch has the most annoying rattle....
I cant find any threads on it.
Anyone know where I can find the fix for this....
I want to be able to tell the tech....where to start looking for the cause.
Thanks!!

Mine had the rattle and they adjusted the stops. That took care of it. An easy fix.

Just make sure you check your dip stick before you leave the dealer to make sure they properly serviced it with oil. I've heard a couple of people say they had low oil levels after their first oil change. But, I would think that by now your dealer has done enough Crossfire oil changes to know that it takes 8.5 qts. Other than that I can;t think of anything else.

Excellent advise. Both times I've had my car in the shop, I had made an appointment and my Crossfire tech was with the service advisor waiting for me. Then when I came back to pickup the car the tech came out to the car with me and went over everything he had done. It really has been a first class experience so far. I hope they keep it up.
