There's a sticker under my hood that says Mobil 1 0W40 oil recommended. I've never hear of 0W40 Mobil 1.
Do forum members use that, if not what do you use, and can I depend on my service department having it (I have three years of free "essential service")?

 

Your dealer should know that this is the only oil that should be used in this vehicle, and that it takes 8.5 quarts.

The Mobil 1 is the only oil I have heard any members say they are using.

Some people are changing it at 5K miles, others are using the 7K mile marker as listed in the manual and the FSS.

With the winter driving I did around here, I decided to go with the 5K change. And the delaer paid for the first one....

There's a MOPAR 0W40 synthetic also. At one time it could be bought by the case, and the case came with I believe 9 bottles and had a Crossfire picture on the outside of the box. Somebody had a picture of the box (Adam in his Oil Change VFAQ?), not sure who though.

There are several threads about winter driving. You may want to look through them using the search function at the top of the screen.

But here is a quick description of my experience:

I bought a set of 4 wheels and a set of 4 Dunlop winter tires. I put 5 - 40 lb bags of rock salt in the rear cargo space.

I drove my Crossfire evey day last winter, except for 2 days when the snow was more than 6 inches.

It is not an SUV, but I was able to get everywhere I needed to go...

But it is alot more fun in nice weather with the Michellins!!!!

You can buy the Mobile 0 at your nearby MB dealer service dept by the case, if you are doing your own changes. Watch out for the dreaded MB markup tho. Buy the filter at your Chrysler service dept. Its $9.00 vs the same thing at MB for $22.00 Need 2 cases to get the right number of quarts. Pep Boys here did not carry it yet.

 

Wally World has Mobil 1 0W/40 synthetic for $4.79 a quart here in Phoenix.
My dealer is charging $75.00 to do an oil change. That's about $20.00 higher than if I did it myself. At this point in life, I plan on letting them change it on the XF. I'll keep doing the Jeep and Honda.

 

Most auto part stores carry Mobil One, just make sure it is 0w40.

The oil filter you can order through our parts discount listed in the faq section. You can get them for under $5 I think. Order a few so you can save on shipping and overall cost. Beats making a few trips to the dealer
