interior hood latch askew
My hood latch always seemed to take a good tug and it would release rather abruptly. The other day at a show, I guess I had popped the hood but got side tracked. I went to pop the hood again, I didnt reef on the lever but just gave it a few tugs waiting to hear the hood unlatch only to realize I was getting older and my memory is failing
Now it seems the interior red lever doesnt retract fully when the hood is shut. Theres about 1/4 " play/slack. The hood lock and everything works properly its just the lever hangs down a tad.
Is this OK or is there a way to tighten the cable or just live with it?

I don't think it's normal, and it is lammed up a little somewhere. The return spring is in the hoodlatch (the under the hood part) and I would start taking it apart to see where the problem lies. Maybe just needs a lube?
My cable froze and then broke on an old car and it is a cast iron PITA to work around.
