Default Another N/A nitrous thread

I went ahead and bought a kit today, its a nitrous express mainline kit.. part number ML2000 (usually $399 from skspeed.com) I bought a TPS switch, a blowdown tube and various other install related items. I got the kit for pretty cheap because I have been working at a speed shop for a while now (~$400 for everything ) and I will install the kit tommorow. I am also disabling my traction control using relays, but that probably won't happen yet, unless it interferes with my nitrous fun. I will most likely post a video in excitement or share a horror story lol. I will start off with a 50 shot, and try out the 100 shot once or twice. The kit can go up to 150 but I might just throw those jets out so I never even try them.

I finished installing the kit today, now I am just too scared to try it of the first time.. I ran into some obstacles due to the crossfires design, such as needing to make a custom bottle mount, blow down tube and uncertainty with the TPS activated switch but it is all sorted out. I am going to test it out later when some shops in industrial areas close for the night, I want to test it in a nice big parking lot. I don't want to spray it for the first time on a parkway in case anything happens. I will try to take a video of the first run... I'll post it if nothing too embarrassing happens lol.

Nitrous kit installed as cleanly as I could manage (engine's dirty though)

Bottle mounted on custom fabricated stand (made with metal from Home Depot and a mig welder), custom bent blow down tube (1/2" aluminum line with a -8AN tube nut and sleeve, flared to 37º)

Made it through hurricane Irene! lol.. don't mind my winter wheels still being on at the end of summer or the dirt

If you made it through a hurricane, a little nitrous shot is nothing....kid...

Thanks.. I feel pretty safe with the blowdown tube.. I had a burst disc blow on me, and the blowdown fitting controls the flow of nitrous very well. I more concerned with hurting the engine at this point.

Keep us informed, I have been thinking of doing this for 2 years. I have to find another job, but maybe after that.

No answer overnight? Sounds bad...either stuck far from home-or in the clink!

It works! lol, its just not as intense as I expected a 50 shot to be. No pops, misfires or hesitations which I was thrilled with. I may want to step it up just a little bit, I may try a 75 shot sometime soon. I think the 100 range is where things start making funny noises and falling out, at least with stock stuff. I didn't take a video or anything because I just kind of made sure it worked, there are still alot of trees down and alot of roads were closed.

Cool setup, is that considered a wet or dry kit?

Also, have you changed out your plugs for cooler ones for use with the nitrous?

Thanks! It's a wet kit, there are 2 solenoids, 1 fuel and the other nitrous. They both feed into a Y shaped nozzle that sits in the intake elbow on the throttle body. I didn't change the plugs, but I didn't have any issues with misfiring. I may change the plugs to a colder non-platinum plug, because I read that platinum plugs may react with the nitrous and foul out. If it runs a little funky I'll know where to look first I guess.

I took a couple short videos today.. nothing crazy, just messing around without killing anybody lol.

I still can't embed youtube videos lol.

I am going to go with autolite AR3923's, they are cheap and use a traditional copper core. I just need to gap them to .044.. itll be about $15 for the set of 12 lol..

i would gap them a bit tighter then that. perhaps .034, i have the wifes SRT gapped at .028 but she just stepped up from a 75 to a 125 and runs 18# boost. also we run 1 step colder NGK iridium plugs

Sounds good.. I know a couple of people with turbo cars that had problems with misfiring due to the gap being too large.. I'll give the tighter gap a shot, thanks for the tip! Does the SRT have any additional work done in order to run the 125 shot?

Quite a few factory forged internals that we do not have in the NA...
