This is the 'Limp Mode', just enough to get you home or to a garage.
Search 'Limp Mode' for help here.

I have the fault code p 0751. If it's in limp mode it still goes well but just in one gear

You may have lost fluid and not know it. If the tranny connector leaked, it may put you in limp mode. The connector is only about 20 bucks buck you'll need to make sure the fluid is replaced. It could also be your transmission valve body (internal). The lack of fluid, a bad valve body, or a combination could cause this limp mode issue.

Suggest you don't drive it. Have the fluid checked out, start with a check of the connector if fluid is low and then go from there. It could also be an electronics issue, but I'm just guessing ......based on the history of these cars and the tranny connector issue, that it could be that. Good luck.

Limp mode is just one gear and the engine runs fine.
P0751 is a solenoid fault on the electrical plate in the transmission.
Been there, done that with the NAG1 transmission in my 300.

P0751 Shift Solenoid A Performance or Stuck Off
From the DTC list.

Don't count on it, the problem(s) that set the codes and put the car in limp mode may occur again and do the same thing all over again.
What were the codes? My 300 would set codes and go into limp mode and then cure itself when the ignition was turned off, only to repeat the performance the next time.

Trouble was my wife was driving the car at the time and I did not believe her when she said there was trouble. Only when I took the car out did I find out she was correct, this time it went into permanent limp mode, it was a slow 30 mile drive to the dealership at 30mph on the highway with everyone passing me.
