Chrysler can't fix my Crossfire

Default Chrysler can't fix my Crossfire

A while ago (about 6-8 months) I posted that I had a knock in my steering column when I steered at low speeds or moved the steering wheel back and forth when standing still. I finally took it in to get it looked at.
1. 1st visit - They ordered a new steering column. Crossfire out of service for 1 day.
2. 2nd visit - They installed the steering column. The problem was still there. They ordered a new "linkage". Crossfire out of service for 2 days.
3. 3rd visit - They installed the linkage but now the traction control sensor is calling out a problem. They have had my car since June 7th and they have brought 2nd tier techs in to look at it and no one knows what is going on so they decided to put another steering column in my car. One of my issues is that the dealer doesn't seem to be in control of the problem. Everything is dependent on this "tech center" support.

I told them that they have until this afternoon to get my car back fixed with a REALLY good explanation as to what they fixed. If not, I want to talk to the Dealer manager on what my options are.
The dealer service department has been kind but unknowledgeable about the problem. The problem is that they can't do anything without the "Star service" input.

My real fear is that they will temporarily fix this problem and it will pop up again in 2 years when the warranty expires! :cry:

Hey there.. I'm in Manassas... PM me when you get a chance what delaer this is.

Seriously...save up all your paperwork and start reading that Lemon Law pamphlet you got with purchase. I know that's a bummer, but the law is there to protect you when a car can't/won't be fixed properly.

Yep, I agree. This sounds like a perfect lemon case. Just get in touch with DCX hotline and let them know where you stand. Has a tech advisor looked at it yet?

I think that talking to DCX is probably one of the most important steps to take if you end up having a lemon. They must be notified by you - not just through the service paperwork. Of course, make sure you document everything.

2 pinched wires found and fixed today. I'm picking it up this afternoon.

Two pinched wires causing a knock? Post some more details after you get the car back.

Default Let me 'splain...too long...I'll just sum up

In the 3rd visit the dealer went to replace some part (linkage I think) to fix the knocking noise. In order to do this I think they had to remove the steering column again. When they put it back in the knocking noise was gone but they had inadvertantly crushed/crimped two wires. The week long ordeal was an effort to try to find/fix a component when in reality all of the components were good. I can only guess that the computer test program is not detail enough to find an intermittent problem.
Anyway I drove the car home and the steering was PERFECT (1st time since I bought it!). On the way home the oil sensor signaled that the car was too high on oil. (DID YOU GUYS KNOW THAT THE CAR CAN AUTOMATICALLY CHECK THE OIL LEVEL? COOL...CHECK THE OWNERS MANUAL!). I manually checked the oil and they must have added a bit much so I drove it back to the dealer and they did a complete oil change for me for free (they just did it 700 miles ago).
I may not have been clear in my first note but the dealer has been doing their best to "do the right thing", Chrysler was just a little slow in getting support to them to decipher the problem.
Anyway I am very happy!

Yep, this car has a lot of bells and whistles... and is one car people should actually sit down and read through the manual.

rWRIGHT2 i have a probem steering problem when i turm left i hear a knock at full sterring lock when i wiggle it back foward also while turning i hear like a spring sound underneth the streeing wheel also like the plastic is beeing streched is that the same sound u had as my car has only 340 milles on it i am VERY WORRIDE i am glad to hear that u have solved your problem & wow 2 wired give all the problem amazing please let me know a.s.a.p thanks
