Punched-out Side Pieces ?
Has anyone looked into removing the side plastic inserts behind the front wheel wells and inserting an open cowl to increase airflow past the front brakes ?
Why do you want to vent your front brakes?
Are you having a problem with brake fade?
The best function, IMO, for opening the side vents would be to vent the air from the engine compartment, like the Corvette. There's not a lot of open area (open to outside) to vent out the air coming in through the radiator. Since the whole bottom of the engine compartment is covered there's not a lot of ventilation.

I noticed too that the hood on the Xfire is extremely warm after just a relatively short trip.
All that warm air can't help in making more power ;-)
I was planning on removing the cover plate behind the gills and then make a duct from the engine compartment
to extract the hot air quicker.

I don't think it will work, at least on right side. I wish it did.

Thanks for posting the pics of the CRUNCHED one. I see that the windshield washer reservior is behind where the right "FAKE" vent duct is. Unless you want to wash your windows by hand, I think the brake vents will have to remain cosmetic instead of functional
