Default K&N Air Filters - what exactly do they do

What is the benefit of adding these? I'm not exactly savvy with engines so excuse me for being a dumb ***! I've seen a number of people say they have added these. How are they better than the stock air filters? How does it help the engine?

Thanks in advance.

While I have noticed that K&N air filters have made a difference on my other cars, I must admit I noticed no difference whatsoever after installing them on the Crossfire. Maybe the factory airbox is just too restrictive.

Or maybe the stock filters are as "free breathing" as the K&N's :?: :?: :?:

Slight MPG increase. Really a first step for the new ecu remap.

Default K&N vsSTOCK

All You Really Need to Do is Pull the Air Box Off and Unscrew the Housing to Get a Look at the Stock Filter. It Does Not Really Look fit to Filter Much of Anything this Side of a Toilet Bowl. I'll Post the Picture

Lord Nikon,

What stats exist to compare the K&Ns to the stock filter?

If I add K&Ns, what will I do to my warranty?

Also, not being very diy-minded, are the K&N's easy to fit?

If you use the search tool, there have been posts (with pictures) detailing the entire process.

I have no official stats, but the K&N's will flow more air, if given the opportunity ! Factory paper filters are ok, but they are designed to be effective and cheap, the K&N's are better quality and will flow much better. BHP gains will be negligable IMO, but every little helps

Warranty wise, if you are friendly with your dealer then not a problem. Depends on what it is in for. They couldn't blame your new filters if your drivers seat has sagged or the stereo is playing up. But if it was in for an engine component that could be related to the K&N's then they could get arsey !

The K&N's are painfully easy to fit. 10min job if that ! As mentioned do a quick search and see what you come up with, thats all I did before installing mine
