Passenger Airbag on an '06 Crossfire Coupe
Hi,
Can anyone advise me how I can turn off the passenger airbag on my Crossfire Coupe... Can it be turned off or removed? If so how...
I am pregnant but am desperate to keep my crossfire.
I recently had my car serviced and was advised by the garage that it could not be done by them legal reasons.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply but I don't see a switch that I can put my key in to turn off....
There are two plastic thumb screw type things on the side of the dash board - would it be these?
Could anyone someone post a photo of the switch - I am not sure my crossfire has one!!
Many thanks!!

It has a harness connection on the back side, the two slotted plastic screws simply hold the panel on. Driver's side is blank, passenger side has the key slot.
You can barely see it in the far right of this photo... middle-ways up.

I have just checked again and I have no key slot in my 2006 crossfire! Just 2 stickers which I have just removed (incase they were covering up the slot) and no key slot!
Many thanks for the kind offer which I will gladly accept - please name your price!! At least then I can take the car to a garage and ask them to fit it for me.
You have made my day - my crossfire is my first child which I will not part with!
Passenger Front Airbag On/Off Switch
The on/off switch is located at the right end of the
instrument panel and is accessible by opening the passenger
door.
The on/off switch is to be used only when the passenger
is:

The on/off switch is to be used only when the passenger
is:
•
an infant (less than 1 year old),
•
a child, age 1 to 12,
•
an adult with a medical condition which makes passenger
airbag inflation (deployment) a greater risk for
the passenger than the risk of hitting the dashboard
(instrument panel) or windshield in a crash.
If the airbag is turned off when there is any other
occupant at that position, the supplemental restraint
provided by the airbag will not be available.

• The switch does NOT turn off the side airbag.
Hope this helps! If not, maybe someone removed the switch? If so, then I would think that airbag light in the center console would have been lit.

To Shut Off the Passenger Airbag:
•
Place the ignition key in the on/off switch, turn the

Wow, never seen this before, how could that not be there? Someone may have removed that assembly? Never saw this before... Sorry I could not be of any assistance!
I am shocked that the panel isn't there either... as the driver's side won't fit in case someone tried to retrofit one...
Shoot me a private message with your address and I'll get it shipped to you tomorrow.
No charge, enjoy it in peace knowing the little tike will be safer.

JHM2K, isn't that switch keyed to the key for the vehicle? Or is there a regular switch body behind the key assembly they could throw when they need to. Just want to be sure before anything is sent that they can use it and not have it sit on a shelf somewhere.

Not electronically, as there's no transponder in the airbag switch... However, the actual "physical cut" of the key may be VIN specific.
Can someone with multiple Crossfires confirm?
If you can use one key to disarm both Crossfires, I will send her the panel tomorrow. If it's key-specific, we may be out of luck.
John I just tried the coupe key in the roadster air bag switch and it worked. Why don't you try your SRT key in your spare (from the white coupe?) before you ship it out.
Class act John, another example of how great this fotrum is.

UK cars do not have this feature, the bags are always on. So some cars came without it.
How do you know that there are wires there anyway?
I am thinking that sending someone something that may not be fitted correctly may leave one open to a lawsuit. Just saying.

Why would the safety of UK babies not be as important to Chrysler as USA babies?
Then again, the side panel starts with 170 xx xxx xx, so it's a R-170 part, which is Mercedes-Benz. Germans don't care for Brits, so... that might explain it.
I still have the part on my desk at work...
