Question Gear Not Shifting. Help!

I am very new to the sight! I've had my crossfire for almost a year. It's a 2004 white coupe, automatic transmission! Unfortunately, the gear won't shift, but the car starts just fine. This happenened about a month ago and its been at 2 different repair shops since then. Now it's at the dealer repair shop! They can't tell me exactly what the problem is. They just know that its some kind of computer problem with the transmission and that small problem is about $2200 to fix! OUCH!!! Has anyone had this problem before. Does that price sound right! Any help would be great!

Amazing. They can't tell you EXACTLY what's wrong but they say it will cost around $2200.
Make them give you a written estimate including all the part numbers of any parts that they plan on replacing. We'll be in a better position to help then.

You mean the car does not change up or down while moving, that sounds like limp mode.
The dealer cannot tell you whats wrong but they know how much it costs to fix. Amazing.
I'd say an honest $1,000 at the most. If it is the electrical plate or the valve plate each can be changed on its own. There is no need to change both, I had that problem and they changed just one small component on the electrical plate. I commented here that my fix was done under warranty, had it been a customer pay job it would have had all the parts changed.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm calling the mechanic tomorrow. Actually, he says that does fix one problem but he can't guarantee something else might not happen later on with the transmission.

So I talked to the mechanic at the dealership and he said it's the shifter module and the part itself is $1700. Is this problem that happens somewhat frequently with the crossfire? And once this is fixed is there anything else I should worry about later on?
