Loud engine after clutch replacement ??
Hi,
I have a 2007 crossfire base 6spd and I took it to the shop to replace the clutch after it went out. When I picked up the car it sounded substantially louder when driving. The sound is like i installed headers and exhaust on the car but coming from the engine bay. I returned the car and they ran diagnostics and said there is no exhaust leak and don't see a problem.
Any help is appreciated!

New update: it is definitely not an exhaust leak. After driving the car the past couple days it seems the noise is only coming from inside the car. If i rev the engine with the hood open and standing outside everything sounds normal. If i sit in the car with the doors closed it is loud, something involving the new clutch. The weird part is after driving for 10 min or so and the car warming up it sounds ok.
More like a loud whirring noise (hard to describe). Hoping its just a break in period, but i am taking it to another shop this weekend for a second opinion.

There are 2 rubber seals (in addition to the leather boot) sealing the hole in the body structure that allows the shifter to poke through. Your installer missed one (or more) of these seals buttoning the car back together. A LOT of noise would enter the cabin through that unsealed hole. See pg 285 of Crossfire_Parts_Manual.pdf
Sounds like throwout bearing is noisy. it could be anything in the throwout bearing system. A week or bad clutch slave cylinder would not hold the correct pressure on our of the bearing when in use. Also when you buy clutch kit it seems to be the bearing is the cheapest part they puttin em sometimes. But the whining in the noise only from the inside I would say is definitely the throwout bearing. Only my opinion but I would investigate. Good luck Napa Dan.
I know someone that was having this same problem. It was his pilot bearing. He put in a new clutch, and had to take it all back apart and grease the pilot bearing. He almost bought a new flywheel because of how noisy it was, but all it needed was some grease.
The first thing you should have done is take it back to the shop that did the work and TELL them about the issue with the car that WAS NOT PRESENT before they replaced the clutch. Whatever it is it happened during the clutch replacement.
See my post below about the seals, if it sounds normal outside and loud inside there is no way it's a throwout bearing or some of the other theories, you hear the T/O bearing in or out of the car. The missing seals (or misaligned) will let all kinds of noise into the car.

Did you end up finding out the problem. I'm having the same issue with my Toyota hilux, loud vibration and whining noises.
