There's no quick fixes.
Here are some real numbers for those of you that are not gear heads and believe some of the hype on this and other threads on the site. There is a current show on SPEED called Sports Car Revolution. For some real numbers in cars like ours, they are upgrading an Acura RSX-S 210hp @7800rpm. They Dyno ran the car and the stock intake with a chip cost them 11hp. In order to get some of that back, They added a cool air intake made by PIT. Heres what the dyno showed 4HP and the hope that at 100mph the ram air/cool air would provide another 1 or 2. This is the MAXIMUM you can expect from a WELL researched WELL engineered system. One thing you cannot do (to add power) is hang the filters on the front end and hope they will pick up cool air instead of hot air (from the engine compartment where they sit). Information makes for informed choices.
Ya Think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I saw how many times you tried to get up with him and his buddy hddp. I noticed they never replied, that sort of tells where they are coming from doesn't it. I sit and read some of this stuff and wonder!!!!

In the first few set ups I did have it run at the base of the car. I found that there was no real improvement one way or another. All it did was add more tubing and weight. In my many prototypes, right were those ram air inlets are is the most optimal spots. It is dangerously close to were the best PSI flow is, on top of the cool air just flowing right into it.
Those AEM bypasses that you mentioned, I haven't really come across. They sound really cool, I'm totally going to look into those tonight.

Jut allot of stuff, and at reasonable prices...Right now i see a couple of chips with small HP gains and damn expensive body parts like $400 for a sill that lights up, pretty pathetic really. What I was getting it is when do we expect to see companies taking an interest and investing in performance parts for the xfire. After a TT that was around 265bhp thats where I would like to be with the Xfire, that (265hp) was the power that felt good, im not interested in top speed, i just want a car that can take on a mini and win upto 60mph. :-)
I think i can help everyone for a small fee of 2 thousand dollars I can make your car full ram air. I just a need a torch, you need to supply the torch, and my plane ticket if need apply,Then i then cut a hole in your hood and then tack weld a wrx hood scoop to it then with some home depot hardware i mount some tubing to a filter right on top of the now larger MAF. HP gains are remarkable, no test drives though, because I do not have this set up on my car due to the fact it made my crossfire too fast and I have since gone back to stock. It scared me. STi hood scoops available and Carbon Fiber available, but at extra cost, prices go up accordingly. High flow filters also available. But again more cash. Let me know if this interests any of you. I did some welding in High School so i assure, I am good. And i am full of car knowledge, I went downstate and placed 4th also I read alot of car magazines and participate in alot of forums so dont worry. You are in good hands with Bullseye.
Way to go bullseye, I think you have what I like to call the saskins shuffle down pat. Soon,I think he is going to patent his device(yeah right) and sell them to NASA (along with that remarkable heat resistant paint he developed) to allow the space shuttle to pick up an additional 8000hp. He is absolutely FULL of something, and we both know it isn't knowledge!!!!!

It's not like he hasn't made anything, clearly you've seen the pictures just as I have. We can all have different opinions and in fact I agree with your basic thought of drawing in hot engine compartment air is not very useful.
I've watched as this thread has gone into the toilet and I guess I'll be the one to end up with **** on my hands!
Cheers!

All though I only have rough cuts, and I'll try to snap a quick pic tonight, so you can see the new look. Oh we gained sponcership. There is a company that is sponcering me with the materials, for a prototype. They were very excited to hear the ideas that I had. It was really cool to have someone, at first kinds of blow me off and just try to sell me something. And by the end of our hour and a half meeting telling me they were going to be giving me some really crazy materials, and want to see me put this thing together and really take off. It was really nice to have an un-biased support from a total stranger. I haven't seen that in a real long time. Especially in this greedy world we live in now.
Well cybergreg sorry you feel that way, but making something for oneself is one thing, trying to promote it as he has is something else. I'm an old guy that isn't very PC, sorry I just call em as I see em. This guy is totally full of it and as if that wasn't enough, he's trying to make a profit from it. He constantly talks trash with no data to back him up and I for one am tired of reading his BS.

Hey Dan, what greed are you talking about. Are you pissed because I have the intake, & you don't, I mean I really don't understand were this is coming from. It kind of seems like I have to give into the ring leader, inorder to be left a lone.
Hobbyman, you have already formed your opinion on this. So do you think that you'll have something a little less counterproductive. No way no matter what I post, all you want to do is put it down. I don't think you have once put in any input that could really help any one person. Seriously if you have a better way to do it. I'm listening. Tell me how you would do it.
This goes out to anyone out there. Instead of just watching and waiting to see my next move, and then belittling it as soon as I can post it. I want you to all write up how your going to do it. I would love to hear how you can help me. This has been kind of one sided, I have been killing myself trying to come up with something that will bring up the performance for all of us Crossfire owners, and I'll I'm getting back is, why this is wrong, or why can't I do this for you. Screw that man, if you really want to go down that road, you can figure this Sh** out yourselves. I don't need to be told what I'm doing is bullshit, when not one of you have stepped up to the plate and done anything about it. Try doing something for someone else, with out thinking about yourself, or what you can get out of it.

i think the only issue sasking is that you haven't gotten a dyno yet. in a way its frustrating people because you made bold claims and haven't had data to back them up. im sure you can understand our frustration. you told us you had a product that let us run with zo6's or some crazy thing like that but still nothing. i appreciate what you are doing, but just like i felt with the chips, that the companies were exaggerating and all, i feel with your product. i was basically alone in that fight, when i was asking for a real dyno to back up the 20hp increase claims, and low and behold when someone finally got a real dyno it was only 9hp. so we just want to see some numbers before we shell out 420 bucks for an intake, a product that usually runs in the 160 dollar range or so. so just give us a dyno, please. or if thats too much trouble just go run a quarter mile. thats all of my 2 cents.......

Xed,
I can appreciate were your coming from. I never said that if you put on an intake it will let you run down ZO6's. That would be really cool, but ain't going to happen. I'm working really hard with trying to get a Run on a Dyno. I've been putting money away, so that I can take it over and have it done, along with mapping out my ECU. Its 1500.00 for 2.5 hr, with specialists, and a real Dyno. This is the Dyno that bolt on to my Axel, and doesn't just spin the wheel. Its the most accurate dyno made. Also I'm getting a deal on the 1500.00, they normal charge 3500.00 for 2 hrs. A friend is hooking me up, usually only race teams get to meet with these guys from Saleen. I thought that was pretty cool of my buddy Buck to do that for me.
As far as the pricing goes, I'm not trying to gauge anyone. The sytem is not at all cheap to make. Also if you look at it, my dual system, is like going out and buying two K&N Typhoon II intakes. However mine is less then that. I was at pepboys, and they had 6 different typhoon systems, and the cheapest one they had was 259.99. Now you want a dual system, ok 259.00 X's 2 is 518.00 w/out tax. Pluse you would need a "Y",Or "T" connector, that is able to accept a air sensor in it. The "Y" connector that I put together , just by it's self is worth over 100.00. I couldn't buy one that was under a hundred bucks, and trust me I looked High and low. I showed the system to a manufacture, who I was interested in to build the system for me. He told me He would charge more, and if I wanted him to build them, I would have to pay 80.00 more then what I'm selling them for. This is not a 2001 chevy Silverado system. This is totally unique and custome for are car's only. I tried to find a system like I had put together, and I still can't find one. You know, if I did I would have bought it myself. I encourage everyone to go shopping around, and see what the intakes cost now days. I think you'll be very supprised at what you find.
