Hello all, a week ago I tried to start my crossfire and it completely shut down. Now when I try to turn the key there's no crank, no electricity, nothing at all. I tried to turn my lights and radio on but there's nothing that works anymore. Checked the battery and all the fuses and the relay control module. Heard it may be a BCM (body control module) problem. Has anyone had any similar problem like this? Thanks for your time.

 

How did you check the battery ? + Terminal to - terminal, or + terminal to engine block ?
Possibly a faulty battery to ground connection ?
Did you check the big fuses in the little box just to the front of the battery ?

 

Agree, to lose everything takes either a bad battery or an open circuit close to it (likely a ground wire). How many volts does the battery read ?

 

Or if you divorce a wife who is, or has, a good lawyer.

 

The battery is reading about 12.7 volts.

 

WHen I got mine home from it's 2200 mile journey (I bought it in Arizona and live in Georgia) I started my maintenance on it. The battery was original and six years old - replaced that right away. I then noticed corrosion - the battery ground cable was HORRIBLE where it bolts to the chassis. I ended up replacing the ground cable and wire-brushed the bolt. I'd suggest you confirm you have 12 volts from the battery positive terminal to ground.

For ground, use the engine block or the chassis of the fan module. If the battery ground cable is bad, that will reveal it.

If you have NOTHING, no lights, no start, no dash panel indications, it is not a module, it is the battery cables, battery cable clamps, or the connection in the engine fuse block, which is that little black box near the battery. You will find three fuses in there - if the 200 amp one is open, you will get NOTHING.

 

The power feed to the entire car is in that little black box. The huge battery cable to the alternator is only for starting the car and providing charging current from the alternator.

The part of the positive cable that goes to the little box is what powers up lights, modules - everything except the starter.

 

Hello again everybody, so I cleaned the ground cable connection to the car and terminal and started playing with the wires in the BCM and finally got some power to the car. Now it's turning over but it's not starting. Any suggestions? Thanks again for all your guys' time and feedback.

 

If it were here I'd probably check for fire and fuel first. Fuel is easy, just depress the schrader on the fuel rail and see if anything comes out. Fire can be harder. Usually you can pull a plug, ground it, and see if you get a spark when cranking.


That is generic, I have not had my Crossfire apart to that extent so perhaps someone could comment on the procedure.
