Default A new one for me?

Crumpy's SRT was parked in the lot, Not locked and yet,

The alarm system went off. So I went out and put the key in the ignition, turned the motor and it went off. Strange event? Maybe I just happended to have hit the panic button withthe key fob in my pocket.... I shouldn''t be worried.

Well not exactly. You see, the car doesn't have an alarm system.

Noise like a bumble bee near the driver's side at the firewall.

Any ideas?

Franc .... don't know what you mean by "doesn't have an alarm system". Did you disable it? Is the Siren still there? The sirens have it's own battery (I'm sure you know this), and those internal batteries do degrade (sic) and it might be telling you to remove, or replace the siren, if you haven't already.
Why wouldn't you want a properly working alarm system? Why would your panic button work if there is no alarm system. No disrespect, just asking ......

I'm sorry but I have never heard it go off on her car.. I meant that I han't done any after market mods to it. And it wasn't a siren for sure. Just a bumble bee rumble..

Your suggestion is likely spot on.And I'm just a forgetful old goat.

You are talking to a guy who is still looking for the TP dispensor. The button for it is on the radio. But I cannot find the dispensor so I can refill it.

So thanks and.....nevermind

HeHe..... I always thought that the "Toilet Paper" dispenser was for emergency use only, and didn't want reams of paper being dispensed out of the CD slot. Yeah, RIGHT!!

To test mine, I close the doors with the window down then lock from outside with the remote. Wait about 10 seconds for it to arm. Then reach in the window and open the door with the inside handle.

Is there a separate battery ?

Who said I was a master of anything? A presumption of some perhaps. And they should know better.Cause thayare liars to have said so.

I have a modecum of knowledge, just enough to get me in trouble. Which is why I posted the question here. As I have often done. Thus making your assumption illogical

BTW, the sound was eerily unlike that of the allarm. It was a steady Buzz. Our car alarms have a cyclical siren. But thanks for theheads up. I'll use the Search feature next time and then come here and ask cause that feature sucks.

Odd, I have fantastic results using the search function Most learned sir. That's how I learned that my alarm can sound like a cricket on crack when the batteries start to fail and then like rattling beans in a dried pea pod when really done.

Anywho you may do as you please ( and I am sure you will ) Just thought I would link you up to my diagnosis of your problem.

Happy St Patricks day.

Did mice or rats get in there and chew some wires? Maybe it's a short?

Franc, how old is the battery? I had some weird issues with mine last summer/fall that resemble the issues you are having. I replaced the battery and still had some issues. For me, it turned out to be corrosive battery cables at the terminal. I cleaned them up a bit and have not had the issue since.

The battery is likely the issue. It is original. The first sign of a bad battery is the wing going up on an NA. But on the SRT that isn't a likely symptom of bad batteries. Like I said, it seems these cars do not like to be stored and ignored. They get even.

It's cold here for a few days and I haven't the time....working 14 hours at the plant. But this weekend I'm doing a new battery, checking cables and replacing wiper blades. Yeah, they crumbled to shredded dust on the way home tonite.

Haven't found any chewed wires. everything "looks OKAY"

meanwhile the alarm does not sound off at all any more. So it could be something wrong inside that unit.

I'm not really worried. Nobody steals a Crossfire any more.

Dude, my first inclination was the battery. But then I second guessed myself thinking surely Franc's already thought of the age of the battery. That battery is around 9 years old! Good grief, I think you got your money's worth out of it buddy. ;-) Consider yourself lucky that Crumpy's Xfire gave you this warning while sitting it the garage and didn't leave her stranded someplace...or your name would be anything but Franc.

....clean the connectors while you're at it.

Now that's funny,,,,i don't care who you are...that's funny.

I have lost track of the various names she has calledme throughout our 45 years of marraige. I don't need a new one.

But yes, I do need a new battery in her SRT.
