Default Blank key question

I have a blank key I purchased on Ebay for my 2005 Crossfire. I purchased this several years ago and now would like to have it cut and programed. I stopped at my local Mercedes dealer thinking that may be the place I needed to go. He advised me that I would have to go to the Chrysler dealer. I then went to the local Chrysler dealers parts department and he advised me that it would have to be sent off to Mercedes.
Couple of questions:
#1 Am I able to get this blank key cut and programed and if so where should I go??

#2 If I'm unable to get this key cut and programed where do I go to get a extra key??

#3 If I'm able to accomplish #1 or #2 above what should I expect to pay??

I live in the Dallas / Fort Worth area.

I had a lock out key cut to keep in my wallet (no programming). A local lock smith was able to copy my key for $50 including the new key. I have been to my local Chrysler parts dept & they told me they could get me a new clicker with the programed chip but they would have to order it. I don't have the code for my key (2nd owner) but the Chrysler dealer said he could get it for $30. Go back to Chrysler and ask for management & tell them that they can get your key cut & programmed. Someone just doesn't know how to do it. All you should need is your registration & drivers license. A new programmed clicker runs about $160. If they will use yours it should be less.

I'm planing to do NOTHING on Friday.

How much did you pay for the blank key?

Thanks for all the input. At least now I have a starting point. We have a good lock-smith here locally and I will see if he can cut the key then back to the Chrysler dealer or possibly a different dealer.

I think you may be missing some important facts here and you may be wasting your time and money.
How much was the 'blank' key? If it was $10 to $25, then it is just the fob and blank key.
The blank keys that I have purchased just had the fob case and an uncut key attached to it. These require the insides of your old fob and the old key attached to it or the blank key cut to match your old one.

As purchased they cannot be made to start the car because they lack the small chip inside that has your cars VIN programed in it. They also lack the circuit board that sends a signal to open the doors.
Real keys cost from $150 to $175, depending on you luck. You get them by ordering them, using your VIN number through a dealer or an agent like NeedsWings.

You do not need a 'code', your VIN number is the code.
For $30 I'd read your VIN of the dash.

It is tough to lock yourself out of these cars unless you leave the key on the seat.
I should not say that as I did that very thing with my last car.
