key fob problem

Default key fob problem

Changed the batteries and performed the steps in the manual to synchronize, nothing happens. Any suggestions??

Batt. & contacts good, checked auto batt. dead? it was when I parked it 2 weeks ago/ Charged the batt. hooked it back up, I get the lights flashing and a sizzling sound from somewhere. Engine cranked once and drained the battery? help!! had to disconnect batt to stop whatever was sizzling

check the contacts to battery

Was nothing happening before? If so it might be something other than the batteries.
Check the voltage in the old and new batteries, maybe the old batteries were OK after all.

I hate to say this but... are the batteries in right? Wouldn't be the first time this has happened.

I just changed the batteries in my FOB. I'm glad I didn't read about the troubles with doing that. I just bought 2 batteries, took the old ones out, and put the new ones in and everything is good. I didn't know there were things to do and problems to watch for.

There are no problems in changing the batteries, you have to synchronize the fob to the car if the batteries have been dead and not supplying sufficient juice to keep the memory alive though.
