Default Key fob

Hi. I have just purchased a 2003 crossfire automatic coupe. The remote key fobs are the 2 button type with swing-out key... One key and fob works but is falling apart, the other is good condition and key works fine but the remote control does not work. Fitted new batteries and LED lights but does not operate central locking. Any ideas how to program or re sync this. Tried the "push button twice quickly and insert in ignition" technique but sadly did not work. Please help many thanks

Is it possible that the key and the small black chip inside have been transplanted into a fob that was purchased separately and the circuit board inside is not the original.
I and some others think that the board has to be matched to the VIN somehow.

Just to be sure, it is push the unlock button on the keyfob twice, insert in ignition and TURN KEY to the run position.

glover,

take care messing with remotes that you don't know match your car. You could corrupt the skreem unit, then you will be in for some fun and games!! I know because I've been there.

Many thanks for your advice guys. After many days of research and conflicting info from specialist suppliers, I have decided to bite the bullet and obtain a complete new key/remote fob, from my local Chrysler dealer, chipped and programmed by them for the price of........ (wait for it)...... £340. That's a kick in the teeth, but I don't want to be stuck in the situation of having no spare key.

That's over $500 U.S., you can get three for that this side of the pond.
The experts are to be found here, you gave up too easily.
I have had these cars for ten years now and at no time did I need a spare key. You cannot lock yourself out of these cars. My spares have never been used.

Default Re: Key fob - My current issue!

Hi, just came across this on the forum as im having a problem with my fobs now.

Im the the UK also, thats not a very friendly cost.. £340 !!

Hope you got it all sorted.

Would anyone have my advice for my dilemma?
I have 2 Key Fobs, both worked years ago fine..
The unlock button on one of the fobs has been playing up for the past month and then finally gave in and wouldn't unlock, so i went to use my spare fob instead. Batteries dead!
Replaced the batteries, all ok and working, however this only seems to be lasting 4 to 5 days before stops working again. Change batteries, all works, another 5 days, same scenario.
I have to keep buying batteries and carrying them with me just in case they drain when out and about lol
Any idea what could be causing this at all?
This was the same for the original key fob and the new 'blank' case i have transferred the guts to (My old fobs were battered, marked, just bad condition from previous owner)

2nd key.. (unlock button wasnt working)... ordered a new blank key fob casing (to transfer the guts) as when i took the fob apart, the rubber that makes contact for the unlock switch had worn and basically didn't reach the button to action then unlock.
So, guts in new case.... doesn't work (maybe i have damaged the circuit board when removing?)

Talk about gutted!!

Do you think the battery drain could be a bad connection, broken solder at all?

Many Thanks in advance

Jason
